Chapter 158
I excused myself, murmuring something about needing to do further research. I needed to escape the stifling atmosphere of the conference room, to clear my head and focus on the task at hand.
As I walked out, Dr. Nora caught up to me. "Alayna, wait," she said, her voice low. "I wanted to tell you that I think you're on to something. The crystals you found... they're unlike anything I've ever seen. I'm running a full spectral analysis now, but it's going to take some time. There's something very strange about them."
"Thanks, Dr. Nora," I said, a wave of gratitude washing over me. "I appreciate your support."
"Just be careful," she said, her eyes filled with concern. "You're ruffling feathers, Alayna. Some of those doctors have been here for years, and they don't like being challenged, especially by someone new."
"I know," I replied. "But I can't just stand by and watch the Minister die. I have to do everything I can to help him."
