I couldn't help but smile. Despite the seriousness of the situation, Dafa's easygoing nature was infectious. I took the helmet and put it on, securing the strap under my chin.
I gripped Dafa's jacket as the motorbike sped through the streets. But as we continued to drive, I realized that we weren't heading towards the outskirts of the city, towards the mountains. Instead, we were going deeper into the heart of the city, weaving through crowded streets and bustling markets.
"Dafa, where are you going?" I shouted over the roar of the engine, a knot of confusion tightening in my stomach. "This isn't the way to the mountains!"
He slowed down slightly, turning his head to the side so I could hear him better. "To look for the herbs, remember?"
"But...I thought we were going to find them in the mountains!" I exclaimed, my voice laced with disbelief. "That's where they grow! That's where they're supposed to be!"
