Eijiro PoV
Kina giggled as she played with her fox plushie, throwing it into the air like Papa used to throw us when we were babies. I remembered Mama would always get worried whenever that happened, her voice a gentle warning about being careful. I couldn't help but smile at Kina's delight; her laughter was like sunshine breaking through a storm.
But as I watched her, a familiar unease began to creep in around the edges of my joy. What if that joy was temporary? I needed to find out what was going on outside. Tentatively, I moved toward the end of the wagon and peered outside at the night. The lingering knights stood at attention, on the lookout for any attackers.
Hopefully, Raiki and Lady Amaya were fine and hadn't gotten attacked en route back to Kuroichi.
Suddenly, I saw the inposing figure of my father. Mama walked beside him. They both looked fine, without injuries.
