Amaya PoV
I dropped to my knees beside Kazuo, my arms wrapping around his limp form as he slumped against me. His breathing was shallow, skin far too pale, and the dark mist clinging to him like a second skin sent a chill racing down my spine. The shadows felt… familiar. Was it because of my past life as an abysmal?
"Kazuo!" I cradled his head in my lap. Stay with me. Please. Don't leave me too!"
Eizan got closer, his expression grim as he took in the scene. "He absorbed too much. If we don't remove those shadows soon, they'll consume him from the inside. He'll die."
Capitolinus materialized beside Eizan in a shimmer of golden light, the guardian angel's wings folded tightly. "Use my namesake spear to dive into his heart and cleanse the darkness directly. Bit it will be dangerous."
Eizan sighed. "I was one of those beings in another life. If anyone can handle it, it's me."
Yukihina raised an eyebrow. "You're tired yourself."
"We all are. You don't look any better."
