Explosions rocked the city. I looked outside the castle and saw pink flames across the lawn. They must've belonged to that woman that Vadim and the others fought in Abyssia. The fire hadn't hit the castle itself but the sheer intensity radiating off those unnatural pink flames was already scorching the grass to ash and sending a thick, suffocating haze drifting up toward the lower ramparts. Smoke curled past the high windows, but I didn't slow my pace for a fraction of a second longer.
I rushed to the throne room between the twin staircases in the lobby. Across the hallway laid Amelia's platinum throne.
As I stride through the massive throne, I couldn't help but think about my comatose mother and her companions. This very throne room was where they had met their end in the battle against Queen Serena two-hundred years ago. Mother, Shun, Wolfgango, and the others had fought for a better future, free from the iron grip of the Tyrant Queen.
