The English fullback jerked his head up. His tanned face tightened, and his brows furrowed. He had stared at the floor for a long time.
"Daniel caught you," Maresca said.
The Englishman flinched. "I know."
"I am not telling you off. I am telling you what he did." The coach looked down at him evenly. "He will do it again. Do not try to outrun him a second time. You are faster, but he knows it, and that is what he is waiting for. Hold your width, take your time, and force him to guess." He tapped his chest. "Outthink him."
Nico O'Reilly swallowed, and slowly the frustration in his face settled into something harder. "Yes, Coach."
Finally, Maresca stopped in front of the last player in the row.
"Lucien."
Lucien had been rather immovable, almost as if he was frozen in time.
