Killer Bee glanced at the group, ready to say his goodbyes when the base doors suddenly began to open. Everyone froze.
Coulson turned to Koenig, "Did you open the doors?"
As the doors slowly swung open, a figure in a black trench coat appeared. Everyone squinted to get a better look—and realized it was none other than Nick Fury.
"Folks, is this how you welcome me?" Fury quipped.
Killer Bee, seeing Fury, thought to himself, 'I knew he wasn't dead.'
Coulson wasn't surprised either, but the others reacted as if they'd seen a ghost. Just yesterday, Koenig had told them Fury was dead—clearly a lie.

Koenig's Office-
Only Coulson, Nick Fury, and May were present.
Coulson had just learned that he was the head of the Tahiti Project and had seen the recording of his own mission report.
"Stupid, cruel, unbelievably stupid," Coulson said angrily.
Fury raised a hand dismissively, "You've made your point."
Coulson yelled, "Why did you bring me back to life?"
"I clearly don't think it was a good idea."
"I warned you—the test subjects would lose their sanity."
Fury, unbothered, replied, "Agent May's been keeping things under control. She said you're fine."
"Isn't that right?"
Coulson turned to May, momentarily speechless.
Fury continued, "That was an emergency measure—much necessary only in case of emergency."
Coulson countered, "Yeah, but that emergency was supposed to be an Avenger getting gravely injured."
Fury looked him straight in the eye and said, "Exactly."
"And I'm glad I made that call."
Coulson froze. Did Fury see him as important as an Avenger?
Fury continued, "To build something, you need a solid foundation. You know I don't trust many people, Coulson."
Coulson replied, "Enough to count on one hand."
Fury smirked, "I'm not afraid of losing a finger. The core principles of S.H.I.E.L.D. are simple."
May interjected, "Protection."
Fury nodded, "Protection. One word."
"Sometimes it's about protecting someone from themselves."
"Sometimes it's about protecting Earth from alien invasions."
"It's a broad job description."
Coulson sighed, "Tell me something I don't know."
Fury finished, "The belief that drives us is the same—whether it's one person or all of humanity, they're worth saving."
"And that truth has always been inside you, Coulson."
At this moment, Nick Fury stood up, walked over to Coulson, and said:
"Before S.H.I.E.L.D. was disbanded, it had many departments. People like you were the core."
"Now, you will be the leader."
As he spoke, Nick Fury took out a small cube and handed it to Coulson.
Coulson held it in his hand and asked, "What's this?"
Nick Fury explained, "A toolbox to help you rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D."
Even May was taken aback. This was clearly setting Coulson up to become the new director.
Coulson said, "You want me to start over and rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D.?"
Nick Fury nodded and replied, "Start from scratch. Take it slow. Do it right."
Then he turned to May and asked, "You'll still support him, right?"
May nodded, "Of course."
Nick Fury turned back to Coulson and said, "I wouldn't trust this with anyone else."
Coulson looked at Nick Fury and said, "Thank you, sir."
"So, how should I..."
"What should I do next?"
Nick Fury smiled and said, "That's up to you, Director."
Seeing Nick Fury extend his hand, Coulson reached out and shook it.
After the handshake, Nick Fury prepared to leave.
At this moment, May asked, "What about you, sir? Where are you going?"
Nick Fury stopped in his tracks, then replied, "I'm going to stop chasing lofty ambitions and focus on solid ground."
"You won't be seeing me for a while."
Coulson said, "You're disappearing, going off the grid."
Nick Fury chuckled, "Off the grid?"
"You know I'm not like that, Phil."
"I'll be everywhere."
With those words, Nick Fury turned and left.
Watching him walk away, Coulson called out, "Sir, the ninjas from Konoha said you're very hard to kill."
Hearing this, Nick Fury paused for a moment, then continued walking without turning back.
In his mind, he wondered, 'Have the Konoha ninjas discovered something?'
With Killer Bee gone and Nick Fury entrusting the task of rebuilding S.H.I.E.L.D. to Coulson, Fury once again disappeared into the shadows.
Coulson, now carrying this immense responsibility, embarked on the journey to rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D. with his team.
