Melanie Carpenter had just finished her ultrasound and was somewhat dazed when someone suddenly grabbed her arm, pulling her into an empty room. Startled, she thought some miscreant had grabbed her and was about to scream, but her expression turned grim when she saw the man before her.
"Why is it you? What do you want? Didn't I tell you? I don't want to see you." Melanie took a step back, maintaining her distance from the man, her disgust unconcealed.
Jule looked at her pale, haggard face and asked with concern, "Is pregnancy very hard? Why do you look so terrible?"
"None of your business," Melanie replied coldly.
"I'll take responsibility for what happened that night!" Jule promised solemnly.
"I told you, we were to act as if that night never happened! Jule, I am Adrian Desmond's wife, and you are his friend. Do you realize what you're doing?" Melanie stared him down, her gaze filled with disdain.
