Becoming submissive is for the day when one no longer needs to be. Some people submit and eventually turn themselves into masters; others have to act submissive for a lifetime.
"Exactly. Who hasn't had to play submissive at some point?"
Sienna Johnson turned to look at Adrian Desmond, imagining him. When she met him, he was already somebody's "master." It was hard for her to picture this man acting obsequiously toward others, bowing and scraping.
"Get those ridiculous thoughts out of your head! I have my pride. Even when I was down and out, I never played submissive to anyone!"
