"Miss Candi, the young master asks if you'd like to come downstairs to have lunch together?"
Ellen Candi got up from the floor, rubbed her face in a frenetic manner, steadied her voice, and said, "I'll come shortly."
"Alright."
Ellen took a deep breath and staggered toward the bathroom.
She turned on the faucet and washed her face thoroughly, but the redness of her eyes couldn't be cleared away. Ellen let her hair down, using her bangs to cover her eyes.
After tidying her hair and changing into another outfit, she attempted to appear normal as she opened the door.
The servant was still at the door, and upon seeing her, respectfully greeted, "Miss Candi."
"Let's go," she said, her voice still hoarse from crying. The maid turned her head to look at Ellen a few times, not noticing anything unusual, and then averted her gaze.
Ellen's mind was filled with ominous speculation; her fingers trembled uncontrollably. She had to clench her fists tightly.
