Anne kneeled in front of the child, uttering an inhuman howl of pain, her lovely face distorted by grief, holding the child's spilled intestines, desperately trying to stuff them back into his belly. The horrific scene kept people from daring to look.
"That child is Anne's younger brother," Philip Shaw watched from the edge of the crowd, speaking to Aldana Candi.
Aldana Candi rasped softly, "How could this happen?"
Philip Shaw shook his head.
Anne's father is the captain here, out at sea fishing and has not yet returned. Some fishermen resting at home today have already taken their small boats to inform him.
With the help of the crowd, Anne's brother was carried back to their home.
The crowd dispersed, leaving only mottled bloodstains on the beach.
Philip Shaw supported Aldana Candi back to the house. He touched her small face, "Rest here for a while, I'll go check on their house."
Aldana Candi nodded, softly saying, "Okay."
