She heard the soft clinking of a coffee cup against the glass of the coffee table, followed by Liam Summer's indifferent voice: "Awake?"
Hearing this voice, an inexplicable fear surged from the depths of her heart. Aldana Candi curled up her body and unconsciously tried to burrow under the covers, but the man's hand reached out, grabbed her arm, and dragged her from the bed.
His fingers were so cold, Aldana thought in despair. She didn't want him to touch her.
"What are you hiding from?" Liam stood by the bedside, looking down at her with a hint of mockery in his tone. "Aren't you quite capable? Daring to escape with just slippers on."
Aldana's chest heaved violently; seeing this man now made her tremble uncontrollably. The look in Liam's eyes, fiercer than a wolf under the moonlight, terrified her.
Liam glanced at her for a moment, indifferently released her frail arm, and stepped back to sit on the couch opposite the bed.
