"My wife..." Brooke Black suddenly repeated the words James Black just said, feeling goosebumps all over, "I know that, you don't have to emphasize it so much. Your wife, I can't steal her away."
Jane Sampson sat next to him, covering her mouth and laughing secretly.
James Black cleared his throat and responded with a hum.
When he spoke again, he did change the way he addressed Jane Sampson.
"Jane's intention was not to expose Jillian Carter's identity, but merely to get the Chip Family to pester Jillian, just to annoy her," James said.
"That's true," Brooke Black nodded, "At the worst, we'll still keep an eye on things."
Brooke Black said, "Leave this matter to me."
Brooke Black didn't stay long after dinner. After sitting for a while, he drove back to Black Residence.
Jane Sampson took the chance while James was washing up to dash into the bedroom, heading straight for the cloakroom to retrieve the documents she had just hidden.
