Whish, whish, whish, whish—
Facing the numerous tentacles descending from the sky, Germain remained calm and agile.
He dodged and weaved through them one by one, evading every single strike with ease.
Not a single tentacle managed to touch him.
Suddenly, Germain sensed the blood-red energy converging upward toward the sky once again.
He looked up and saw dozens of tentacles twisting together, forming the shape of a giant cannon.
A faint glow shimmered from the cannon's muzzle.
Boom—
A blazing red energy ball shot out like a torrent, moving at lightning speed.
In the blink of an eye, it was right above Germain's head.
Spreading his silver wings wide, Germain instantly flashed to the side.
At the same time, he condensed dark Nen, forming a solid barrier to withstand the explosive shockwave from the red ball.
Boom—
The red sphere crashed into the ground and exploded, spreading out.
The black barrier held firm for only two seconds before shattering.
However, by then, Germain had already flown far into the air, leaving behind a shimmering silver arc.
The cannon-shaped mass dissolved back into countless tentacles, swaying among the clouds.
They lashed at Germain like whips.
Germain spiraled through the narrow gaps between the tentacles, ascending once again.
He was about to break through into the dark red mist above.
Suddenly, there was a muffled roar from within the crimson clouds.
A massive, terrifying rat's head burst out, whiskers trembling.
Its large front teeth snapped viciously toward Germain.
"Arrrghhh—!" the rat roared fiercely.
Germain focused his gaze and realized this rat's head was a gruesome fusion of flesh and blood from many different creatures—truly a horrifying sight.
With a flash of silver light, he dodged the snapping teeth.
Then, raising his Sacred Moonlight Greatsword, he swung it forward, unleashing two intersecting crescent slash waves.
Swish, swish—
The rat's head was huge, and although the slashes were uncharged, they left two deep scars over its left eye.
The beast howled in pain.
But soon, new flesh surged forth, rapidly covering and healing the wounds.
Or, even if it didn't heal completely, as long as it was usable, that was enough—flesh and blood creatures simply didn't have such high demands.
Germain ignored that and took this opportunity to pierce through the crimson clouds.
Then, before him appeared countless pulsating blood vessels, densely spread throughout his field of vision.
They were all bright red, continuously transporting a liquid that appeared black from the outside.
Among them were also some swimming masses of flesh. Beneath these masses, tentacles whipped about, making them look like jellyfish.
They would linger inside one blood vessel for a while, then move on to another.
"Buzz buzz buzz—"
The "flesh" clearly sensed his presence.
Countless flesh wasps, manifestations of His will, swarmed over with buzzing cries.
Germain moved through the scarlet mist, but blood wasps were all around him—front, back, left, and right.
Without hesitation, he drew out the "Deep Sea Badge."
Rumble rumble rumble—
A fierce wind suddenly rose around him, first spreading outward and shaking away all the blood wasps that had their stingers raised.
Then, the wind abruptly shifted into a spiral, quickly transforming into a tornado.
It was as if someone was stirring this pool of blood mist in the air with a wooden stick!
Wherever the whirlwind passed, the red clouds crackled with thunder and lightning.
Countless pulsating blood vessels were torn apart by the force of the wind.
The flesh jellyfish were shredded to pieces.
The surrounding flesh mixed with water droplets and dust, turning into a violent blood rain that fell toward the ground.
Germain remained unharmed amidst the foul wind and bloody rain, becoming a silver arrow of light as he pressed forward.
Ahead, he could clearly see the flesh tumor parasitizing the sky.
Thump thump, thump thump, thump thump—
That tumor was connected, supported, and nourished by countless blood vessels, and yet it throbbed like a beating heart.
Its surface was uneven, and on every swollen sphere sat a twisted, agonized face of a living creature, making it look like a disgusting mass of lymphatic flesh.
The clouds stirred by the wind began to clear.
The blood flesh fell away as droplets, and the originally dark red clouds gradually became translucent enough to faintly reveal the moonlight.
A distant voice echoed from the tumor, reverberating throughout the entire blood-red world.
"The power of the 'Deep Sea'! You actually got involved too! Each of you is targeting me, trying to stop me from becoming the perfect being!"
"If you won't let me succeed, then I won't let you succeed either!"
The tumor suddenly swelled, growing to twice its previous size in an instant.
An ugly, grotesque face emerged from within.
At once, countless floating droplets of blood in the air reversed their course, shooting like blood arrows straight toward Germain.
Germain remained calm and composed.
He held the Sacred Moonlight Sword in reverse grip, focusing entirely on charging his power even as the blood arrows closed in.
All the blood arrows slammed into a sudden black wall that conjured around Germain—six walls forming a dark coffin that completely enclosed him.
Puff, puff, puff, puff—
The blood arrows couldn't pierce the black coffin.
They didn't even leave a mark on its surface, sliding off together before being absorbed by the wind and clouds, turning into a blood rain that fell to the ground.
Crack, crack—
The black coffin shattered into many fragments, but it wasn't broken—it was Germain who willingly released it.
In his hand was the fully charged Sacred Moonlight Sword.
He raised it high and unleashed the most ferocious crescent slash he had ever delivered toward the tumor!
Boom—
The powerful crescent slash surged toward the tumor!
Just as it was about to strike, countless pieces of flesh suddenly converged ahead, instantly forming three huge, blood-soaked skulls.
The three skulls were dripping with blood, with bits of flesh still stuck around their eye sockets and teeth.
Each opened its huge mouth wide, devouring the crescent slash wave segment by segment!
Bang, bang, bang—
In an instant, the crescent slash exploded inside the mouths of the three skulls.
A blue light flashed so intensely that the entire world blurred and distorted.
Germain closed his eyes to avoid the glare but heightened all his senses to the maximum.
He faintly sensed a strange pulse of energy.
When he opened his eyes again, the blue light had faded.
Looking toward the distance, he saw the tumor throbbing even more violently.
Finally, it let out an explosive roar!
Boom—
The entire mass of flesh suddenly exploded, sending a crimson light darting out.
Germain immediately went on alert, his eyes fixed tightly on the glowing red dot.
The crimson light paused, then revealed its true form.
The "Flesh" had reverted back to a small humanoid creature, but this time, its limbs and torso looked somewhat awkward and mismatched.
On its head grew a pair of horns—one pointing forward, the other backward—completely asymmetrical.
Dozens of eyes were densely packed across its stitched-up face, each looking in different directions, creating a chaotic and irregular pattern.
Among the sharp teeth in its large mouth, one fang jutted out like a tiger's tooth and was embedded directly into the flesh of its own chin.
Its entire body was a deep red, with some areas covered in scales, others embedded with bone, and patches swollen with lumps of flesh.
Germain frowned.
But the "Flesh" seemed very satisfied with its form.
"Strange, isn't it? This is only the first step in my evolution towards the perfect being. If it weren't for idiots like you constantly interfering, I'd have reached the second and third stages long ago!"
It raised a hand, sharp nails pointing directly at Germain.
Suddenly, a buzzing filled Germain's ears, and his whole body stiffened.
He found himself suspended mid-air, unable to move.
At the same time, numerous flesh tumors sprouted all over him, and swollen blood vessels bulged out, twisting and destroying his body relentlessly!
