"Marry you?"
Annabelle asked again, just to confirm that the man was serious about what he had said.
Jason didn't like repeating himself. He had already said it once, so he kept quiet and continued working, giving the woman time to process his words.
After a few minutes, Annabelle was about to speak when her phone received a message.
She wasn't planning to check it, but when she saw her grandfather's name on the screen, she opened it.
The moment she read the message, she was dumbfounded once again.
Her grandfather wanted her to get married to Jason Grayson.
How did he even know about him?
Was this a dream?
"Have you thought about it?" Jason asked, looking up from his work.
Annabelle quickly put her phone away.
"I will get back to you. But if you can come up with another condition, I will be glad to fulfill it."
"Since that is the case, I will give you twenty-four hours to think about it."
After saying that, Jason returned his attention to his work.
Annabelle left his office with twice the worry she had brought in.
Her company was on the verge of breaking down. Jason's only condition was marriage, and now her grandfather also wanted her to marry Jason Grayson.
It felt like the world was ending.
After getting into her car, she immediately called her grandfather.
"Grandpa, what was that message all about?"
"What message?" he asked innocently.
"Don't pretend you don't know. You said I should marry Jason Grayson."
"Oh, that."
Annabelle sighed.
"Yes, Grandpa. That."
"I only wanted to help you. I met an old friend yesterday, and he told me about his grandson. I thought the two of you might be a good match."
"You thought that without even asking me?"
"At least I informed you."
"Grandpa, things are not done that way."
"You will understand when you get older."
"Grandpa—"
Before she could finish, the old man ended the call.
Annabelle stared at her phone in disbelief.
After returning to the office, she tried to focus on her work, but her mind kept going back to Jason's condition.
Marriage.
She had never imagined that a business meeting would end with a marriage proposal.
After work hours, Annabelle went back to her condominium and continued thinking about the decision she had to make.
That was the only option she had.
But marrying a man she barely knew sounded absurd, even if her grandfather already had the same plan.
She eventually fell asleep with the weight of the decision still on her mind.
The next morning, Annabelle went to work as usual, trying to find a way to save her company.
But before she could do much, another disastrous piece of news reached her.
The bank she had taken a loan from was asking the company to apply for bankruptcy because they were going to acquire the company building.
"Why is this happening now?"
Annabelle's voice trembled as she placed her head on the table.
There was still an hour left before the twenty-four-hour deadline Jason had given her.
She needed to accept immediately.
Otherwise, there would be no RA Jewels left to save.
She quickly got up, grabbed her things, and hurried out of the office.
Jason Grayson was her last hope.
When she arrived at Grayson Enterprise, she ran straight toward the elevator.
"Please tell your CEO that the RA Jewels representative is here," she told the receptionist.
After receiving confirmation that she could enter, she walked as quickly as possible toward Jason's office.
She pushed the door open.
"I agree to your condition," she said immediately.
Jason looked up.
He clearly wasn't expecting her to arrive in such a panic.
"Take a seat."
"I will get married to you," Annabelle repeated.
Jason stared at her for a few seconds before picking up a document from his desk.
"Check this contract. If you are satisfied with the terms, you can sign it."
Annabelle took the contract.
She quickly went through the important parts before signing it.
If anyone had told her that she would one day agree to marry a man she barely knew just to save her company, she would never have believed them.
Jason took the signed contract from her.
"You can go and dig the gold."
He picked up his phone and called his lawyer.
Annabelle stood there for a moment.
Just like that, she was going to marry Jason Grayson.
