Kai Syaoran lay motionless on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling of the small cabin. His thoughts were a chaotic blur, entirely unable to comprehend the nature of the primal impulses that had just driven his actions. Lost in this state of deep confusion, his usually sharp instincts failed him entirely; he did not see or even sense the shadowy figure that had materialized next to the door. By the time his survival instincts finally kicked in, it was already too late. A black dagger was already buried deep in his chest, its blade piercing clean through his heart.
The entity towering over him possessed no eyes, mouth, or any discernible facial features. In place of a face were two hollow, abyssal pits that held absolutely no emotion whatsoever, save for the silent, chilling message they delivered to the dying wolf: Death is Upon You.
