Chapter 1 - The Kingdom of Descarith

Descarith defied every expectation. Once it had been a realm of splendor, home to a great castle that captured the imagination of generations. Now that name and that glory had crumbled into the sands of time. The castle survived only as a ghost-memory, haunting the dreams of anyone who dared to remember.

The people who called Descarith home had never seen the castle their land was named for. All that remained were distant tales and whispered legends handed down through the ages. Centuries of decay and neglect had swallowed its shape. Even so, the castle's legacy loomed over the kingdom and cast a long shadow across it.

Descarith was vast, and it was full of contradictions. Its land sprawled for miles, yet almost no one lived on it. Only a handful of villages dotted the empty countryside. They were small and cut off, each one unaware that the others existed. It was as if the land itself worked to keep its people apart, breeding a loneliness and mystery that reached into every corner of the kingdom.

The kingdom's borders hid the deepest riddle of all. A dense forest veiled every frontier, and neither time nor human understanding had made sense of it. It seemed to stretch on forever, mile after mile of towering trees and tangled undergrowth. There, the air itself seemed to throb with ancient secrets.

The villagers whispered legends about the forest's heart: mythical creatures and bloodthirsty beasts that lived in the shadows. These were not idle stories. They were burned into the memory of Descarith's people. Some had walked into the depths anyway, pulled by curiosity or by something they could not explain. None came back unharmed. Some never came back at all. Even bands of explorers who ventured in together met grim ends, and left their families to mourn.

So the villagers drew their own boundaries, invisible lines that marked the limit of their courage. They would go no deeper. They knew what waited there. What puzzled them most was that the creatures never came out to attack. For all the dark tales, no animal sounds ever drifted from the trees, no sign of anything alive at all. There was only silence, eerie and unbroken, heavy in the air, as if the forest were holding its breath and waiting for something to stir.

A forgotten castle, isolated villages, a forest no one understood: Descarith was a kingdom like no other, a place where past and present moved together in a slow dance of secrets and shadows. Here, in this land of contradictions, the stage was set for a story that would tear the fabric of reality open and reveal the truths sleeping beneath it, waiting to be found.
