Rachel's POV
Confusion clouds my features while worry and fear buries itself in my gut. Nonetheless I didn't say anything as I clamped my hand in his outstretched palm and followed closely behind as he steered me out of the restaurant.
For some reason, I kept my gaze downward and watched my steps as I walked, not ready to see more of the questions and wonder in the eyes of the other diners. A walk that took barely a minute felt like an hour.
Luckily for me, we exited and walked straight into the elevator. I stood behind Lorenzo as he pressed the button for the down floor. No words were uttered between us but the stiffness in his shoulders could tell me a bit of his mood.
We left the iron box the moment its doors opened and we made our way out of the building, to the parking lot and finally his car. I murmured a soundless 'thanks' as he opened the door for me but his subtle nod, showed he heard.
