SLAP! Tania, her scales bristling, swatted David's tail away with a look of disgust. "Gross! Come on, spill it! It's not like I actually want you to take me there."
David immediately flopped over, reverting to his previous lazy demeanor, and candidly disclosed, "Hmm, just went back to Port of Wallens to check on the kids."
"Oh." Tania suddenly lost interest, ready to turn tail and run, but midway, she whirled back. "Whose kids?"
"Mine, duh."
"Oh..." Tania's brain seemed to be fried, her face blank as she prepared to leave. Then, like a cat summoned by 'Tom's Call' in Tom and Jerry, she dashed over at high speed, nearly smashing her face into David's. "When did you have kids? How come I didn't know about it?"
"Not just you, even I only found out last month, if you must know," David responded, barely stopping himself from rolling his eyes.
But sometimes, fate just loves playing jokes.
