Hello my beautiful people. It's thespadeking with an announcement that may be good or bad depending on who you are.
A little over a month ago I hired an editor to help me in the process of writing this series and we both came to the conclusion that it would be best to scrap and rewrite this first volume.
Over the past almost four years of writing, I have grown considerably in my craft. With the experience and knowledge I've gained, I realized I was underprepared and far too eager to publish. I didn't realize the faulty foundation I was building on.
Maybe it showed in my writing, but there were many aspects of the story that I hadn't thought deep enough about and honestly have been gnawing at me for the longest time.
I had already been thinking about a rewrite way back in 2024, but put it off since I thought I was too deep into the narrative. I was originally thinking of just finishing the first volume then taking a hiatus to rewrite V1 then plan and write V2. But meeting with the editor made me realize how not ready my story is.
So we made the choice to start over.
Just to be clear, I will NOT be abandoning this story. I haven't put Asuka through enough yet.
What does this mean for this version of the story?
Though I'll probably leave this up, there won't be anymore updates. If the rewrite is far different from this version, I might finish this one. But no matter what, this version is no longer cannon.
When will the story come back?
I am a man of God so I try no to lie. I have no idea. I will not give false hope and say something like a couple weeks or months. This will take time. If I had to make a guess, I'd say a year at least, but it's almost certain to take longer.
What changes will be made?
Again, I don't not know. Could be a few, could be a whole new story. It all depends on what my editor and I decide. Though, I will try not to deviate too far from what I've already written.
Should you read the current version?
I say yes. You will see in real time how much better I got over time.
Guarantees:
1. I will write this new version with a lot more preparation, planning and care. I was too frivolous with those things before so I promise to not take them for granted this time.
2. Consistent updates when it's ready. I might take a break between volumes, but during, no more once in a blue moon updates. Let's be real, 88 (technically 90) chapters in 3 years is NOT okay 😭😭.
3. I promise that so long as I'm alive and God wills it, I WILL come back. No matter how long it takes.
You guys have no idea how grateful I am to all who took any amount of time to consume my story. 190k views is a mind boggling number and many people have been reading since damn near the beginning.
There were a number of times I doubted I was writing something worth reading, but every time I updated, views jumped and it made me realize people were actually reading my worked and motivated me to keep.
Thank you. Each and everyone of you. Whether you know it or not, you have all pushed me to improve. You've made me a better writer and a better man. Thank you guys.
