Beau Reed retracted his chopsticks.
The servant next to him wore an odd expression. These words were truly excessive, leaving no room for dignity.
Holding his breath, Beau Reed watched in silence for a few seconds before putting down his chopsticks, nodding, and then slowly standing up.
"You eat first. I just remembered Julian is waiting for me to return his call."
Mary Douglas sat upright, gracefully picked up some food with her chopsticks, placed it in her mouth, and chewed slowly, without lifting her eyelids even once.
The servant watched wide-eyed as Beau Reed left like that, unable to help but softly call out.
Beau Reed turned and looked at her, "Remember to serve her some more rice."
In the end, the servant did indeed add half a bowl of rice for Mary Douglas.
After finishing her meal, Mary Douglas got up and left the table.
Her naturally indifferent demeanor made the servant think her heart was made of stone.
