After three cups, the atmosphere at the dining table finally eased a bit. The Old Man pulled Miles Martin aside to talk, since he wanted to consider him as a son-in-law. He had to get to know him a bit first.
But the truth was, everyone understood that the Old Man didn't get much useful information from Miles Martin. Instead, Miles managed to extract a lot about the Old Man's preferences, as well as some childhood stories about Isabella. Once he started drinking, he couldn't stop his mouth from sharing, saying a lot that couldn't be held back.
Isabella ultimately felt hopeless, watching Miles keep her Dad company, one cup after another.
