The Empress knelt on the ground, her heart suddenly filled with a sense of despair. She had never strived too hard for her son to claim the position of Crown Prince, for she knew that the Emperor was not easily swayed.
As the Empress, she didn't want to act too disgracefully.
And the Second Prince, still arrogant, believed the throne was already in his grasp, not even bothering to befriend the courtiers.
Upon hearing the Emperor's inner thoughts, all the Empress felt was despair. She kept shaking her head, "It wasn't me, Your Majesty. Please investigate clearly, it truly wasn't me!"
The Emperor laughed lightly, "You say this, she says that; how am I supposed to know who's telling the truth and who's lying?"
The Empress lifted her head, "Your Majesty, there's something fishy about this. This palace maid knows that poisoning a Prince leads to certain death. Why would she disregard her own life?"
"There must be something hidden in this!"
