Chapter 123 - Welcome Overstayed

Getting as riled up as he had been had tired Null to no end without even netting him a reasonable explanation.

The Creator had said his piece though, and he and Ego were left emotionally hammered to the point where they just wanted to call it a day.

Learning that Sofina ended up being sacrificed over himself in a cleverly executed plan by the Creator made him feel guilty and his mood soured.

Ego had since grown out of their embarrassed state and went to Null to check on him.

"I heard everything and can't help but agree with his actions. It would have been too dangerous if you were the one taken."

"I get that, but what's even bad about letting It escape It's prison? I mean the guy tried escaping his reality because he was all alone."

The question was aimed towards both Ego and the Creator who was back to taking whiffs of the spirit liquor.

It seemed he grew stiller the more he consumed just the aroma and compared to the reaction Ego had, something was not right about it.

"It's not about good or bad. There're only actions and consequences. It could have just waited for life to naturally germinate, yet It took matters into It's own hands and tried to change It's fate. That kind of mentality with those kinds of powers can only produce problems."

"What does that even mean? You're saying that just because It was desperate and unwilling to wait for life that It deserves to be trapped all alone for eternity?"

The Creator only scratched his head, and Ego took it upon themself to respond, "It's not like there was a place for It in this universe anyways."

"But what about us! We use the power that It left behind and are not even considering helping It out in return."

"I've been 'helping out' by tuning out all of the whispers that haunted me my entire life. Trust me kid, It can stay put for all eternity for all I care."

"I just don't get it."

Null resigned himself to worry about expressing his opinions later. As it stood, he had more important matters at hand.

"There's nothing to get. It only wants freedom and you're the key."

"Okay, I get it. But outside of that, how do we get out of here?"

"About that... It seems I must make a sacrifice to refuel your exhausted vortex," the Creator seemed to have it all planned out as he raised his bottle.

'Geez. The nerve of this guy.'

Null channeled Void out of his body and was suddenly surprised.

Void was looking malnourished as he laid on the ground after coming out of his place where the vortex lay dormant.

"What the heck happened to you?!"

Null immediately knelt to hold Void in his hands as he questioned the state of his companion.

"It is a result of traveling between the planes. His makeup has become destabilized after traversing through means typically incapable. Fortunately for all of us, I happen to have the solution which It could not procure due to It's ignorance."

"So this spirit liquor you possess can really help Void recover? Then it's a very good thing you were here or we could have been trapped!"

"I digress," it was Ego's turn to speak as they refuted Null's claim, "You have me."

It seemed that after their experience after the Creator's shenanigans, Ego had grown more affectionate to Null seemingly out of nowhere.

'The Emotions must have altered Ego's personality or given them all new perspectives to live with.'

"I get that you're made of spirit water, but how would you help fix Void's current state?"

"Something like spirit liquor is a poor man's trick! I'll show you!"

Ego's sudden outburst confused both Null and the Creator, but the latter merely stroked his chin and watched— while sniffing at the spirit liquor of course.

Ego then grabbed Void and suffused some of their body into his own, then controlled it to gather in his stomach area where it condensed into tiny crystalline fractals.

It was at this point that Void's body began to stir as it absorbed the tiny spirit crystals and slowly looked more and more nourished over time.

Ego wore a smirk on their face afterwards which the Creator took to be aimed at him.

'They are surely a magnificent specimen. I'm just glad I got to save some of this spirit liquor.'

With the matter of Void's ailment cured, the one in question sat up and looked around.

"Where are we?"

Null was dumbstruck at the question and did not even have an answer.

Luckily, Ego was more influenced by their emotions and saw Void as a sort of younger sibling, "You did it! You brought us right where we needed to go Void."

The usually candid Void immediately grew joyous as he realized what that meant, "Does that mean I get to eat as much as I want?!"

Ego turned to Null, who was still silent, "Does it?"

Noticing the intent behind the gaze, Null snapped out of his daze and responded, "Of course! But first you need to get us out of here."

Void was unhappy at the request, "But you said! You said that once I made it here, I would get all I can eat!"

He was beginning to start a tirade, but Ego swiftly dealt with the problem, "He can't give it to you yet, but I know someone who can give you something special as a treat."

The Creator knew instantly that he would not be able to walk away scot free once the three turned their heads towards him.

"It seems that I've overstayed my welcome! It was really nice to meet you all even during such certain circumstances, but it seems like I must leave."

Saying so, the Creator tried to leave the area, but they were inside Null's mind, and he was fairly capable of controlling things there.

When the Creator tried to walk away, the ground seemed to act as a treadmill and kept him in place.

"Well, since this is your first time meeting these two, don't you think you should give them gifts? They are sort of linked to you after all."

Null was not about to let the Creator go after all the trouble he caused.

"Haha! Well, if you say so, then I really have no choice, but as you can see, I only have one thing I can offer," giving a shrewd smile, the Creator held up his bottle.

"Well, technically, that's something you got from me and Ego, so setting that matter aside, you have yet to offer something of yours."

The smile on his face froze as Null spoke and the Creator knew at that point that he was going to have to provide something of his knowledge before the detonation of his soul.

"How about I show you how I made this then?"

Null turned to Ego who nodded at him, "That's fine. But what are you going to give Void. He gets really hungry, so I might just feed him the remnants of your soul if your offer isn't good enough."

'I thought I was giving a gift!'

"Well, in that case why don't I teach him the way to feed himself while outside of your control."

"A way to feed myself? Teach me! Teach me," Void was excited at the offer.

Once more, the Creator sighed, 'When did I become a babysitter for these monsters?'
