Something wicked came one night,
A shadow with no face.
It followed my big brother home
And stayed around our place.
.
At first, it was harmlessly wandering
planting its scheme in lace.
Big brother said, "Hey, there's a little girl,
whose not from this place."
.
I play my musical box,
the ballerina moves around,
suddenly, big brother says there is is again,
the shadow of a little girl.
He thinks it's a ghost.
.
One night, It pushed him from his little bed,
He cried and hit the floor.
The doctors gave him lots of stitches.
He wasn't like before.
.
I woke inside his room.
I didn't know the way.
I wondered how I got in there.
I wished that I could stay...
No.
I wished that I could run away.
.
I thought that someone watched me,
But nobody was there.
I felt it standing by my bed.
I felt it in the air.
.
My tummy started hurting.
My hands were cold as ice.
I screamed and kicked the bedroom walls.
It wasn't very nice.
.
My daddy opened up the door.
The hallway filled with light.
The shadow hid somewhere again,
But not enough from sight.
.
Nobody else could see it.
At least that's what they said.
But every time the house got dark,
It filled my heart with dread.
.
Mommy didn't talk about it.
Daddy said we'd be okay.
I wanted to believe him,
But I was scared each day.
.
The pink glitter was gone
The room got cold once more.
Daddy says big brother fell,
but we knew the truth too well.
.
I didn't know it back then,
Or why I felt so small.
I only knew that something bad
Still lived inside our walls.
