Chapter 97 - Chapter 96: Bringing Pakura to Leaf

"So how is life in the sand village?" Ken asked Pakura as he was getting bored during the journey and also wanted to make Pakura more comfortable in talking with them.

But clearly asking about the life in sand village was not a good choice. After all, She would never be living there again.

Pakura trembled a little at the question before calming down. Itachi gave Ken a glare who could just awkwardly rub his head.

"It's okay I guess. Nothing special. But it's pretty different than the Leaf." Pakura replied

"You have been to Leaf before?" Itachi asked

"Yes, I have been to Leaf once when the peace treaty was signed between our villages. The elders did not want us to look weak so they sent me, an S-rank shinobi with a rare kekkei genkai to send the message that we are not weak."

"Ah yes, Speaking of Suna elders, here" Jiraiya tossed Pakura a scroll. She looked at him questionally.

"I found this scroll on the leader of the Anbu. He tried to destroy it but let's just say he was too late to do so. This might also help you make future decisions more easily." Jiraiya replied with a grin.

Pakura curiously started reading the scroll. And at the end of it, only a sad sigh escaped her lips.

The scroll was from Suna that mentioned the route she would be taking for the peace treaty as well as the go-ahead for the 'peace treaty' which was to kill her. The last part was not mentioned. Rasa was clever enough to know that if the word got out that he gave away one of their own, his term as the Kage would be cut short.

She had no doubt about the truthfulness of the scroll. The scroll had the stamp of the Kasekage with his chakra signature something that could not be faked easily.

'This scroll confirms it. I was really just a tool for the village huh? When my need was over, I was disposed of. Will it be any different in the Leaf? Am I making the right decision?' Before Pakura could think any further, Ken, Kabuto, and Itachi tackled her into a hug.

"This is so sad. When I grow up, I would kick the Kazekage's ass for you Big sis. Believe it!" Ken said both confidently and angrily. At least he acted like that.

Pakura's heart instantly melted away as she rubbed their heads.

'Maybe Leaf would really be different for me. Besides, Big Sis Pakura has a nice ring to it.' Pakura mused

Shikuro looked at the scene with a twitching eye.

'Even I would have fallen for their cute act if I did not know any better. That little brat is too devious. If I remember right, he told the other two to act like this because no adult woman can resist the charms of three cute kids. He is a better manipulator than even Lord Hokage. Like they say, the apple does not fall far from the tree.'

Ken smiled at Pakura.

'I almost feel bad for manipulating her like this. If she gets to know that it is all part of the plan, she will likely start killing Shinobi kids our age. Heck, the entire world would stop trusting kids.' Ken inwardly thought

'But still to think Rasa and the other elders in Suna are dumb enough to let their village hero get killed. They just sent her to die. Such a waste. Well, they should have learned from the Leaf. Getting the hero of their village killed is not a good thing. When Sukumo committed suicide, villages thought that Leaf was weak now and decided to start the third great ninja war. Suna was already weak from the past wars and now losing one of the only two kekkei genkai users of their village would be a big hit to them. It's good that they don't have anything desirable or other villages would surely take this opportunity to plunder them.' Ken marveled at the stupidity of the higher-ups of Suna before thinking about more important things.

'I did not see any signs of white zetsu during the battle. But my sensory skills are not enough to sense him anyways. The only way to know that both Obito and Zetsu know about the truth of this situation is to wait. They would surely relay the intel to both mist and sand. Or the other option is that they would try to recruit her in Akatsuki.' While Ken pondered about all of this, they continued to travel to the leaf.

They already had a ship waiting for them which they used to depart from the Land of Water. Pakura was disguised to prevent anyone from knowing that she was alive. She was using crutches to walk normally but was usually carried by one of Jiraiya's toad summons when they were on land.

They made sure to travel without anyone seeing them. With Shikuro's sensing ability, it was very much possible.

Due to all of this, it took two extra days than required to reach the outskirts of the leaf village.

"I will be off now. With me in the village, You would attract a lot of attention from both the spies and the elders of the village which we don't want. Besides, I have a new book to write about and for that, I need to do a lot of research." Jiraiya said as he departed in a hurry.

'Leaf feels so different than Suna. Let's find out what my future holds.' Pakura thought as she looked at the scenery of Konoha while she followed the three genins and their sensei.
