Chapter 698: Bounty Terms
The first barrier opened with a metal cough.
Three fighters stepped through before the door finished rising.
They had been waiting behind the lower ring glass, patched up, armed again, and angry enough to believe a reward could turn fear into courage. One carried a hook-blade with fresh tape around the handle. One had a cracked shield and a spear cut down to arena length. The third wore a mask with one lens missing.
All three looked at the board.
SPONSOR LIABILITY POOL: ACTIVE
CLAIMED FIGHTER DAMAGE: BILLABLE
CONTAINMENT REWARD: OPEN
Then they looked at JJ.
Her wrist still smoked.
"I hate rich people rules," she said.
Omina stood between JJ and the nearest fighter. "Then you will hate poor people using them."
The King spoke over the arena. "Participants may damage either vessel. Fatal action voids reward. Clean containment earns priority payout. Interference with sponsor property earns secondary penalties."
"Sponsor property?" JJ said.
