The mark on Jade's tablet moved from the edge of the shelter map to the laundry corridor.
It slid across two drawn walls, stopped over a service closet, and pressed itself into the screen until the glass made a tiny sound under her thumb.
Jade took her hand away.
The mark stayed.
Waddell stepped close enough to block the nearest camera from seeing the tablet.
"Tell me which hallway needs bodies away from it before somebody official asks for a clean report."
Jade tilted the screen toward him. Her damaged eye kept trying to count the mark as a door. She made herself read the hall labels first. Laundry corridor. Service closet. Old intake vent behind the stacked cots. A place no one used unless storage had failed somewhere else.
"Move the children out of the west room and put Tyree between the laundry doors and the stairs," she said.
Waddell lifted his radio.
"West room clears quiet, and Tyree takes laundry with two people who can keep their hands off weird marks."
