Chapter 17 - chapter 17

The two of them were both silent for a moment as they thought about the situation. They had both said possible explanations for Keaya's behavior, but neither really felt like they had truly figured out the reason for his actions.

The traveler finally spoke again, his tone more resolute than before.

"We'll just go and check on these areas first, and then we'll come back and report to Keaya about what we found."

Paimon nodded, seeming somewhat reassured by the traveler's newfound determination.

"Right. Let's go."

With that, the traveler and paimon started off towards the first location on the map, ready to investigate.

The traveler and Paimon journeyed to the first location, which was an out of the way forested area on the outskirts of mondstadt.

As they approached, the tree cover became thicker and thicker, and the air began to grow cold.

The traveler and Paimon could sense a palpable shift in the atmosphere, the air growing quieter and more still all around them.

Keaya had marked this area as a possible spot for suspicious abyssal energy. But what exactly had caught his attention here?

The two of them continued into the forest, and as they kept walking further, they noticed that the air grew even colder and more still.

The tree cover became increasingly thick and dense, and the forest seemed to become more and more silent. They couldn't even hear any of the ambient sounds that usually accompanied forests such as birds chirping or winds blowing.

The two of them exchanged a look, knowing that there was something odd going on here.

"I get the feeling Keaya might have been on to something here..." the traveler said with a glance around.

"Yeah..." Paimon said, seeming more uneasy with the silence. "Something definitely feels off about this place."

A moment of silence passed between the two of them, as they looked around, taking in their surroundings.

The traveler broke the silence. "Let's look around and see if we can find anything strange or unusual..."

paimon nodded, and the two of them started exploring the area. They kept their eyes peeled for any signs of abyssal energy or anything unusual.

The more they searched, the more ominous the silence felt, and the quieter everything seemed to get. In this spot, even their footsteps produced no sound.

Paimon shivered as she looked around, feeling as though something was watching them. It was hard to tell if it was just her imagination, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was nearby...

The traveler seemed to feel it too, because he had grown increasingly tense and alert, his eyes darting around in search of the source of the ominous feeling to the whole situation.

"This doesn't feel right..." he said softly, trying to keep his voice as quiet as possible.

Paimon nodded, also whispering. "Yeah... something definitely seems off..."

The two of them stayed alert, watching their surroundings. The air felt cold and still, with an uneasy atmosphere encompassing the whole place.

There was an oppressive silence all around, and they could both feel the tension steadily building up.

Suddenly, there was a break in the eerie silence.

For a brief moment, they could hear...

...a low, rumbling noise...

...like an earthquake or massive tremors...

...echoing through the area around them.
