The wreck groaned one final time before its fractured hull gave way to the sea. As the remains of the mysterious vessel were swallowed by the waves, the crew on board the Miss Love Duck watched in tense silence. Water sprayed against the sides of the ship. The deck trembled slightly from the underwater suction.
Conis gripped the railing. Her eyes were wide. "Ben," she cried out.
Marianne ran to her side as she clutched her arm. "The ship's going under! They were on that wreck," she added.
"What just happened?" she questioned.
Saphir was ready to dive in. "I'm going," she shouted.
Vivi held up her hand as she squinted into the fog. "Wait, I see them. Five figures, maybe six," she said. "They're alive," she added with a big smile on her face.
Nojiko leaned forward. "You have some good eyesight," Nojiko commented as she could barely see.
"It will take more than that to hurt them," Raki remarked as she had a smile on her face.
"I can see one more person. Looks like they picked up an extra," Mikita said.
Raki crossed her arms. She watched the way one of the figures hovered slightly above the waves. "Did that girl have wings…?" she asked.
Through the haze, Ben's silhouette became clearer. Water dripped from his coat. Ben held Robin and Zala. Kaya had Alvida. Kalifa used Moonwalk and Ashivra used her wings.
Alvida smiled. "We made it out just in time my love," she shouted.
"I was not expecting the ship to fall apart," Robin remarked. "It might have been rigged," she added.
"I've seen enough haunted ships for one lifetime," Kaya remarked as she flew back to the Miss Love Duck.
"There could be more," Zala remarked. She looked at Robin. "I think you may be right," she added.
"It is a typical trap," Kalifa said as she kicked the air.
They all landed on the ship. Ashivra was the last to land. She looked around and saw a group of girls surrounding them. She thought they all looked beautiful. There was a radiant aura coming from them.
Ben looked at the girls on deck. "We made it," Ben chuckled as he watched the sea swallow the last of the ship.
"Ben!" Honey called out. She spotted him approaching the deck.
"You look okay," Nojiko said warmly as she looked at him. He was handsome, she thought. She turned to Kaya. "How was that ship?" she teased with a raised brow. "Did you run into any ghosts?" she asked.
Kaya shook her head, exhaling softly. "No ghosts," she replied.
Saphir stepped forward, tension easing from her shoulders. "I was seconds away from diving in after you," she admitted with a sigh.
Ben smiled gently. "Thank you, Saphir. I never doubt you'd risk it. You're our anchor in stormy seas," he said.
Saphir's heart fluttered hearing it.
As the group gathered around, Raki looked at the unfamiliar woman beside Ben. Her skin was a warm brown tone, her white hair flowing freely in the sea breeze. A flame flickered softly from her back, and massive charcoal-black wings folded with quiet grace. "It's a pleasure to meet you," Raki said, nodding respectfully.
Honey leaned in with intrigue. "She's got wings, like you and Conis," she remarked.
"Can you actually fly?" Marianne asked eagerly. "Wait… are you another sister?" she asked.
Alvida chuckled, sliding beside Ben with a sparkle in her eye. "Of course. My love's harem seems to bloom with every adventure," she said.
Robin giggled softly. "He's very consistent about it," she added.
"She's beautiful," Nojiko said. "Strong eyes. Fierce presence," she remarked.
Vivi stepped forward with a diplomatic smile. "Welcome aboard. I'm Vivi. They are Marianne, Nojiko, Raki, Mikita, Maya, Honey, Conis, and Saphir." she said as she introduced everyone.
The winged woman gave a graceful bow, her flame glowing faintly. "I am Ashivra, of the Lunarian tribe. I'm honored to meet you," she said. Ashivra thought that was all she knew. She could not remember anything else. She then thought the other memories in her mind were with him, Ben in those dreams.
The others watched her flame flicker. Conis tilted her head. "She reminds me of… me," Conis thought aloud, eyes fixed on Ashivra's back.
Mikita grinned wickedly. "She knows what this means. First night protocol," she said.
Zala nodded coolly. "It's tradition. Non-negotiable," she agreed.
Ashivra tilted her head. "First night?" she questioned.
"You sleep with the Captain on your first night aboard," Robin replied.
Kalifa pushed her glasses up. "Sexual harassment," she muttered.
Ben raised his hands quickly. "No, no—don't listen to them. They're just teasing you," she said.
Ashivra gave Ben a smoldering smile. "I wouldn't mind," she stated.
Kaya rolled her eyes. "Pervert," she said.
The whole crew burst into laughter—some teasing, others blushing.
Ben cleared his throat, trying to hide his own grin. "We are still in the Florian Triangle," Ben reminded them. He thought of Triller Bark. "And we have him to deal with," he said.
