On the surface, these two theories are quite simple and clear; one resembles a fast track method, the other is like a foundational course.
Thus, people habitually choose the fast track method.
Since the Tang and Yuan dynasties, Tantric Buddhism has attracted the attention of many emperors with its name, and thus the Joyous Zen was born. Who doesn't like an easy victory? Emperors are no exception!
If there were an opportunity to comfortably enjoy worldly wealth and pleasures while achieving immortality, wouldn't that be everyone's ultimate dream?
But in practice, there is no such thing as an easy victory. Practice is something only the most dedicated individuals can complete; enlightenment is always the result of accumulated efforts leading to breakthrough.
Accumulation is gradual progress; breakthrough is sudden enlightenment!
