Chapter 79 - Chapter 79: Supergirl Smiles at Me (1)

For three consecutive days, Genevieve, in the guise of May, had been canoodling with Mark. She felt that Mark was trusting her more and more, almost to the point of telling her everything.

Because the exploits of the Superman couple had taken the internet by storm, the area around the film set was packed with crowds of onlookers.

Among those Superman fans, some were just there to join in the excitement.

Others excitedly offered to work as unpaid extras in the Superman production, and some even brought food and drinks, making the crew feel embarrassed by the hospitality.

The local people of Texas were truly too enthusiastic.

As the lead actor playing Superman, Pete Nicholas had been hogging the spotlight lately. He had become addicted to the role and couldn't even bring himself to take off his Superman costume.

Brad joked that Pete had developed a delusion, imagining himself to be the real Superman.

Pete, however, called himself a method actor. He was a fan of Superman to begin with, and by experiencing life from Superman's perspective, not only did he enjoy it, but it was also quite helpful for authentically portraying the character.

His acting as Superman was truly impressive, and many passersby on the scene had long since become his fans.

Because Supergirl was such a hit, someone on the crew suggested to the director that they modify the script.

After discussing it with the screenwriter, the director finally decided to add a childhood sweetheart for Superman, though the role would be minor, and the entire series would still focus on Superman's growth as the main storyline.

When Shawn and Mira visited the set, they were dumbfounded by what they saw.

Well, well. These guys, although they didn't know anything, had eerily guessed the general direction correctly.

Genevieve, however, was gnashing her teeth in hatred; all the topics and all the people revolved around Superman and Supergirl.

She was very unhappy. Genevieve had also dreamed of being worshipped like that before.

But her ability wasn't the overtly powerful kind, and her appearance was rather ordinary. When she tried to carry out missions, the results weren't good, and the people who hired her would only thank her politely on the surface before forgetting about her as soon as they turned around.

"This world is simply unfair!"

"Why, when doing the same work, should Superman, Supergirl, and that bunch of superheroes from Vought get people's love?"

"I, Genevieve, am not a bit worse than them!!"

Due to work schedules, the relationship between Genevieve and Blindspot hadn't developed any further.

She also hadn't been able to get a look at the private Superman room that Mark had mentioned in passing.

Genevieve was secretly anxious, "I can't delay any longer; I must get more information within these two days."

It wasn't because she lacked patience, but because the real May, after days of imprisonment, was in an increasingly worsening state.

If she died one day, she would no longer be able to continue approaching the target in the guise of May.

Choosing this identity was originally intended for a short-term infiltration.

That night, Genevieve, having just finished filming in May's place without finding an opportunity, hurried to the cabin, only to see the motionless figure inside and her expression changed drastically.

"How is she gone?!"

This was too fast. Genevieve reached out to touch her; the body was already cold. She was furious, "Useless trash, she died after only a few days of hunger."

She didn't know if May had died from not eating for too long or from the physical and mental torture. Regardless, without a living person, her ability couldn't be activated. Genevieve's plan to transform into her again had gone down the drain.

"What should I do?"

In the darkness, the expression on Genevieve's face shifted constantly. Reason told her she should retreat quickly before being caught, but the devil in her mind was egging her on, telling her not to give up just yet.

Playing this role was originally a short-term choice; there was no need to live like that for a long time.

She had already obtained key clues and could completely transform into anyone; as long as she was careful, no one could catch her!

Her mind opened up. Genevieve's eyes grew brighter, "Tomorrow, I'll 'put on some makeup' and go to the set to check the situation..."

The next day, the crew had to suspend filming because of May's unexcused absence.

The assistant director and the agent called May's phone repeatedly but couldn't get through.

"How could she do this?" The director was furious, "Does she know how much money we lose if we delay for a day? This is a stain on the acting profession, and even more so, it's irresponsible to her own career!"

"I didn't notice it before, but he has quite a temper." Seeing this scene, the Kent couple, who had brought their children to visit the set, couldn't help but tease Brad.

"That woman is quite something; I guess the director didn't get what he wanted, that's why he's like this." Brad wasn't in a hurry and was still grinning. He shrugged indifferently, "He's usually stingy with the budget, isn't that just to prevent such emergencies? Don't worry, even if the crew is left hanging for ten days or half a month, they can still start filming normally."

He knew everything about this.

As they were talking, a female staff member walked over with drinks, "Everyone, Coke, juice, milk, or coffee?"

Brad picked up a cup, "Coke, thanks."

Feeling his finger being touched, he teased with a smile, "Lady, don't take advantage of me. Even if you come to knock on my door at night, I won't give you a raise!"

"Hehe, no one would do that, rest assured." The staff member lowered her head and smiled, then familiarly handed drinks to Shawn and his wife, teased the children a bit, and walked away.

It wasn't until evening, when the sky was getting dark, that everyone realized they couldn't reach May. Only then did people realize the seriousness of the problem.

The director chose to call the police. But with no definite news for the time being, their filming schedule was destined to be delayed.

"Everyone disperse for now; wait for notification on when to start work tomorrow!"

Because of boredom, the Kent couple took the children and left early.

As the security personnel for the film set, Blindspot also left the set with a somewhat complex and anxious mood.

"Buddy, what's wrong with him?"

Mark returned to the House of Superman listlessly, without much enthusiasm to respond to the greetings from Cat-Face Man, Rachim, and others.

Beast GirlNatalie smiled ambiguously, "Maybe he's heartbroken."

The House of Superman would stay open until the early hours of the morning.

However, Mark had already finished his work tasks for the day. After returning to the company and washing up, he planned to go out for a walk and try his luck to see if he could find May's whereabouts.

Not long after coming out of the back door of the House of Superman, his expression suddenly turned stunned.

"Th-this is—"

Mark snapped out of his deep thoughts and looked up at the sky in surprise, "You, are you Miss Supergirl?"

He had seen Supergirl once before, but only from afar using his super-hearing, so he was a bit unsure.

High above in the sky, a tall figure with a dashing demeanor, wearing deep blue attire with a red cape fluttering behind her, was slowly descending from the sky.

Supergirl smiled at him, "How are you? Mark."
