Chapter 22 - Chapter 22 - Cursed

That night, Jua had finally settled down in his room, but instead of going to sleep, he sat quietly and began planning for the future. He wanted Ying Di to suffer a little, but he was worried that outright killing the man might somehow affect the world or interfere with the original storyline. He didn't want to take unnecessary risks.

So, he decided to take the easier route.

Curses.

It was one of the demonic cultivation techniques he had once been familiar with, allowing him to place a curse on someone that would bring them misfortune whenever they came close to a specific target. In this case, the targets would be himself and Ying Mao. He wanted Ying Di to suffer whenever he approached either of them.

That way, if the man had even a semblance of a brain in that tiny head of his, he would eventually learn to keep his distance.

With the idea settled, Jua quickly gathered the supplies he needed for the technique.

It didn't require anything fancy.

A simple piece of paper, a pen, and some of his own blood would be enough.

He pricked the tip of his finger, allowing a few drops of blood to fall into a small bowl. He then dipped the pen into it and began drawing the complicated curse mark onto the paper. His demonic energy and cultivation were practically nonexistent in this body, but this particular curse was different. It could draw energy from its surroundings and grow stronger on its own. He didn't need any special spiritual power to activate it.

A grin slowly spread across Jua's face as he finished drawing the curse mark, carefully painting Ying Di's name and birth date into its center.

It took him roughly ten minutes to complete the curse.

Now all he needed to do was make sure the paper came into contact with Ying Di's skin.

For that, I need to get close to him...

Just thinking about it made his skin crawl.

I guess I'll have to tolerate him for a little while.

Jua folded the small piece of paper and held it securely in his hand, already thinking about how he would deliver the curse to that wretched fellow.

Then, without warning, the door to his room opened.

And in walked the very same wretched fellow.

Jua stared at him for a moment.

It was almost as though the prey had willingly walked straight into the tiger's mouth.

A wide grin slowly appeared on Jua's face.

"You're here."

Ying Di, who had entered the room with an ugly expression on his face, suddenly paused.

The moment he saw that smile, his heart began pounding violently against his chest.

Under the pale moonlight streaming through the window, Jua's delicate features looked almost unreal. His fair face seemed to glow beneath the silver light, making him look like some beautiful moon fairy who had stepped straight out of a painting.

Jua looked far too beautiful.

Ying Di gritted his teeth.

I... I have to crush him.

This fucking disgusting leech.

I can't believe he's trying to seduce me again! I can't fall for it!

His anger only intensified the more he looked at Jua's face. Raising his hand, Ying Di prepared to slap him hard.

But before his hand could reach him, a soft pair of hands suddenly caught his wrist.

The delicate fingertips gently brushed against his arm.

Ying Di's entire body stiffened.

A strange sensation shot through him, making every hair on his body rise. He almost let out a moan from the unexpected touch, but he quickly forced himself to regain control and yanked his arm out of Jua's grasp.

"You dare touch me?" he snarled. "I'll make you pay, Jua."

Jua simply nodded and calmly stepped backward a few paces.

"You can try."

There was a faint grin on his lips as he turned away from Ying Di and went back to looking out the window, as though the man's threat meant absolutely nothing to him.

That only enraged Ying Di further. His face twisted with anger as he gritted his teeth and charged toward Jua. But before he could reach him, his foot caught on a slightly wrinkled section of the carpet.

His momentum carried him forward.

He stumbled and went crashing headfirst onto the floor, his nose slamming directly against the hard tiles with a sickening crack.

"Ahhh!"

Ying Di rolled onto his back, immediately clutching his nose as pain shot through his face. His eyes watered from the impact, and for a moment, all he could do was groan in agony.

Jua glanced over his shoulder at him, the corners of his lips twitching upward. "Looks like you tripped," he murmured, barely managing to hide the knowing grin on his face.

"You!" Ying Di shouted, pointing an accusing finger at him. "You tripped me!"

Jua merely blinked at him before slowly shaking his head, his expression the very picture of innocence.

"But you tripped on the carpet, though."
