Kris Cooper's voice sounded very calm, clearly indifferent to this topic.
Such calmness, however, made her feel even more at ease.
The corners of Vera Wave's lips lifted. Her mood, after wrestling with her thoughts all night, finally eased. Sweetness, like honey, spread through her heart.
"Then you should go to bed early. Don't tire yourself out."
"You really want her autograph?"
"Forget it. You two aren't that close anyway."
She quickly denied it. Asking him to get her an autograph would mean he'd have to talk to *that* woman. She absolutely didn't want that!
On the other end of the phone, the man seemed to chuckle softly.
"It's okay. If you want her autographed photo, that's fine too."
"No!" she burst out. "I don't want it at all!"
"It's no problem. Her room is right next to mine. I can go get it for you now if you like."
If he went to Irene Spencer's room in the middle of the night... That woman obviously has feelings for him. What if...?
