This time, she bit down hard, her teeth sinking deep into his skin, almost breaking it before she finally let go.
"So… are you satisfied now?"
Kasper Edith turned his head, glanced at the obvious bite mark on his shoulder, and reached out to pull her into his arms.
"Olivia, trust me. From now on… I will never let you hurt again, never!"
"I trust you!" Olivia Parker lifted her face, looked at the bite mark on his shoulder. "Let me put some ointment on it for you?"
"No need." Kasper Edith caught her hand. "Let it hurt for a while."
Olivia Parker laughed softly. "Okay, then shall we sleep?"
She packed up the ointment and the odds and ends, went to check on Osbert Montgomery, then came back and lay down beside him. Kasper Edith reached over and turned off the little table lamp.
Because she'd taken a nap that afternoon, Olivia wasn't very sleepy. Afraid of disturbing him, she didn't dare move around.
