Sophia Carter got out of the car and stood in the cold wind for a while, looking at the dark window. The haze that had been covering her heart for days seemed to have dissipated, and she felt a calmness.
After some time, the window suddenly lit up, and after a short while, the villa's front door opened. Mason Carter walked out, wearing a down jacket over his home clothes, and Sophia was stunned for a moment.
It wasn't until the tall young man walked up to her that she snapped back to reality.
"Why did you come out?"
Mason Carter didn't say anything, just looked at her.
Sophia Carter felt flustered by his gaze, shifted her eyes to a nearby evergreen tree, and said, "I have some matters to discuss with a friend and just happened to pass by here..."
Mason Carter still said nothing.
Sophia Carter awkwardly smiled, "It's getting late, I should go back."
She didn't know since when she had become less composed and calm in front of Mason Carter.
