Chapter 1 - Angel of wishes...

As the morning rays fell on a beautiful garden a silhouette of a young man could be seen lying on the field. With messy long hair and a tint of flushness that could be seen clearly on the pale skin he looked anything but healthy.

As the man slowly woke up a hint of confusion flashed on his eyes. He groggily sat up and checked his condition. His garments were all covered with dust and grass. A slight pain jolted him fully awake. He had a slight wound on his left hand, a kind formed by scraping against a rough surface.

'What happened to me?'

Ray tried to remember the contents of the day before which led him to this situation. As he organized his memories he felt a pang of anger mixed with slight guilt. The guilt part though he didn't fully understand if he really felt it.

'It wasn't my fault, she should have tried to understand me better'

What happened yesterday was really infuriating to Ray. He didn't know if what he did was right or wrong but he didn't have any regrets....maybe.

Yes Ray had a fight with his mother over a small broken vase, but it wasn't like he had intended to push it or anything. The truth was he knew deep inside that the fight wasn't over that cheap vase. But something that had haunted him for over 2 years, his greatest nightmare.

He wasn't always so quirky and agitated all the time over small things, infact he was a bright boy who always had a smile over his face and everyone loving him over every small things he did. If that cursed day hadn't happened...

"Terminal"

[Name: Ray Ragnarok]

[Age: 20]

[Job: None]

At the first glance this was a normal terminal window everybody had, but on the second glance when anyone saw the 'None' where his job should be they would throw a look of pity. This was because in this world being jobless meant to have no value to society.

This all started over hundred years ago when all the people around the world were summoned to the other world. When the earthlings entered that world it was on the verge of ruins as it was consumed by the creatures of darkness known as devils and their legions. People received their terminal when they arrived their as so came their jobs with them.

Jobs came in all sort of forms, some were simply farmers, some were merchants, but the most revered of them were warriors. What made these jobs special were the skills that came with these jobs. Farmers could grow crops anywhere even in barren land, merchants had their dimensional bag where they could store goods and travel anywhere with all sort of goods, and especially warriors who came with variety of different skills that would help them in combat.

With these skills earthlings helped the other worlders to clear the world from devils and their armies. With that they finally got to return home. But not only were they able to keep their skills in real world once they got their terminal they were able to travel between the two worlds freely.

But their was a catch him who had no job wasn't able to travel between worlds at all. This shocking truth was revealed 2 years ago when at his awakening ceremony he was missing any sort of job from his terminal. This wasn't a rare condition as only 1/100th of the population were awakened. But the problem was he was from a awakened family where only those who have awakened have true value.

This lead to constant bullying and scorn from everyone around him. The then cheerful and innocent kid was tormented. Even if the world didn't accept him he had his parents...or so he thought.

'cough..cough... I shouldn't have slept on the cold ground'

Ray coughed as he felt his throat getting sore. He felt like he needed something warm to melt his ice like throat.

Ray sighed, he left his house thinking of never returning back again but as he checked his pocket it felt very empty with only 100 divine currency points to his name. This was all he had saved since his childhood. The only way left for him to survive was to return.

Thinking of how he would return and apologize he got up and dusted himself. First he had to get rid of the soreness that the throat of his was feeling and a hot bowl of noodles was the exact thing he needed. Thinking so he made way to the noodles shop and hoped it was open for business.

Just as he started walking he saw a white feather falling in front of him and instinctively caught it. He examined the feather in his hand. At a glance one could tell this was special, it was so white and pure and looked unaffected by any worldly filth. In a way it looked holy. What truly surprised him was a notification on his terminal.

[A very strong source of divine power is found, do you wish to convert and absorb it as faith]

Ray looked at his terminal with a dumbfounded expression.

'This...This I'm not dreaming right, but wait what would absorbing the power of faith do'

He didn't know what this feather of unknown origins would do to him but their was only one way to find out.

"Yes"

As he said the feather turned into glitter and vanished in his body. He felt a very warm and comforting sensation spreading from his heart.

[Your body is absorbing the power of faith, awakening a job]

'As expected', he thought as he started gloating at a sudden ray of hope he had felt. Those Divines must have finally got some conscience in them. As he was beaming with joy he felt his heart tighten and a very dull pain hit him from his core. As if to prove him the terminal updated before his eyes.

[Your body is rejecting the power of faith]

'What? Why? Why is my body rejecting the power of faith'

It didn't make any sense, Power of faith were granted by the Divines as a form of energy. It was like soul to a person everyone had it. Infact he always believed he didn't meet the requirement of faith instead of not having any at all. someone rejecting it was unprecedented.

Slowly the gripping of his heart loosened and he could finally breathed. As he gasped for air he saw his terminal updated once more.

[Since the power of faith cannot be absorbed the conversion is stopped]

[You are absorbing divine energy]

[You have awakened a job]

He felt his throat dry, not that his throat was really dry in that moment. His voice trembled as he said.
