Episode(79) False Death
SOVEREIGN OF DEATH~(79)
[Sneaky human!]
Nagisa grinned.
Ain't that right?
[As if I'd let you split me in half...]
Here, hold a universal sign of peace!
Nagisa gave Yagar the middle finger and chuckled.
Hm, lets sheath this for now and free up our hands shall we?
I've been committed to being a swordsman since the fight began.
He had no qualms, in fact he enjoyed it thinking it was his calling.
Still, having magic and telling him not to use it? Impossible!
So, without care for Yagar's questioning glare, Nagisa stretched out a hand.
He cleared his mind and closed his eyes and pictured the image of the magic he wanted to cast.
Closing your eyes mid fight, normally this was a stupid move but don't forget. He had S-rank perception.
Closed or open, it didn't matter.
Weng!
In an instant, mana like a storm seeped from his body and surged like a tide.
What was the concept of having 40,000mp?
Even Yagar, a monster didn't have this much mp at all!
At most, as a monster it had maybe fifteen or seventeen thousand mp.
Mana surged and balls of water and darkness formed in the air.
The balls of water and shadow magic continued to increase to the point that "being surroinded on all sides" wouldn't be an exaggeration.
[Hahaha!]
Amazing! Magic is just too amazing!
[Get ready beast!]
With a single snap of his fingers, the balls of water and shadow transformed into swords and spears all half the height of Yagar.
Why didn't anyone tell me using magic was so incredible before!?
[Impossible!]
Yagar couldn't believe the sorcery before him.
[Why...human have too much power!!]
It was utterly baffling!
Even monsters with their powerful physiques had a limit to the amount of mana they could contain. Even more so for humans who couldn't go over the limit of their levels like the other races.
Levels were like individual tiers of existence. The higher you were, the more capacity you had for the power you could wield and contain.
Yes, some creatures were special and had some quirks.
Even then, this human was beyond being a special existence.
This was unscientific!
And what fine control, the output doesn't fall behind at all! Does this human have no cost when using mana at all!?
How was this fair!
[Graaaaahhhhhhh!]
Yagar roared.
The revelation of magical power this human contained made him flustered but he couldn't be absented minded here and get hit by that attack!
It could stand physical attacks to a certain extent but this was another story.
Coating its body with a film of mana was all it could do.
As for avoiding the attack, look around. Where could he go?
Nagisa didn't even give him time to contemplate before letting loose all his attacks.
Each one was like an arrow being knocked into a divine bow flying as the speed of a descending comet.
Even if Yagar planned to dodge he would have no time.
Even coating itself with magic didn't help. Having finer control over mana and more output, Nagisa's attacks were like bullets hitting against zinc!
It couldn't even be called a competition!
Higher control, usually converted to damage and so did higher magic output as it meant you could pour more magic into a single attack making the impact several times stronger.
An example would be a novice mage only able to pour 1mp into a single fireball while a more experienced mage could use 5mp or even 7. Nagisa however could use up to 50mp for each attack making his magic more lethal than a high caliber rifle facing a human wall!
Swords flew at a blurring speed slicing flesh and tearing through the flimsy paper thin magic shield.
Water swords sunk into Yagar's flesh being absorbed into his blood and exploding causing his movements to become sluggish.
Shadow swords and spears dug into his flesh before extending chains to his shadow binding him in place as the barrage continued.
What a master piece!
Nagisa clapped in wonder.
[Magic huh]
Being at the other end of this must be terrifying!
[Then again-]
He scratched his chin thoughtfully.
Maybe not.
Using full draw to slice through the attacks by altering the frequency of my magic to match my opponents wouldn't be much of a challenge.
By then, slicing through magic like a hot knife through butter would be a cinch.
[Gaaah!!!]
Finally, the volley of swords ended. The chains and shadow weapons binding him vanished and Yagar released a battler cry filled with spirit.
Nagisa watched playfully as it took up the battle axe and twisted it but when he saw the next action his expression change.
Damn!
Before Nagisa could properly retreat, the blood soaked Yagar who had multiple wounds spun the battle axe to the hammer at the back before slamming it down.
At the same time he activated his skill.
Boom!
The hammer struck the ground crushing the concrete like brittle pastry and at the same time a ripple passed through the space.
Whether it was Nagisa himself or rubble, everything was sent flying into the air.
Gravity was inverted!?
[Tch!]
I was too conceited!
Lets just stabilize myself. It must be the same shockwave attack as earlier, as long as I can land properly-
Uh?
Just then he realized, he couldn't move freely at all! He wasn't even falling like previously!
Not just him, even the rubble and debris floated in the air without any motion of falling.
???
Just when he was confused, Nagisa saw that Yagar was running his way, his heavy footsteps shaking the ground.
[Sh*t!]
He struggled desperately to break free but efforts proved futile.
Instead, he seemed to be drawn towards the troll. Before he could even decide what to do, the hammer struck down slamming Nagisa to the ground.
*Cough*
Nagisa coughed a mouthful of blood in the crater he had created.
[Ugh.....a new...attack?]
He frowned.
'What kind of attack was that?'
The pain was there, but with his current physique this attack wasn't nearly enough to threaten him so Nagisa was rather passive. Rather he was confused about this new pattern.
It definitely wasn't like the shockwave attack. That attack could only send him into the air not keep motionlessly like a baby bird.
Is there a way to prevent this skill from being used?
Nagisa wanted to take a bit more time to think however he wasn't given a chance.
Instead, a huge boulder flew towards him.
[Come on!]
He rolled out of the away quickly before hopping to his feet.
As soon as he did that however another one seemed to teleport right before him.
Nagisa's face change and he leaned back so low his back touched the ground and the boulder just barely missed crushing him.
Although he felt that they weren't a threat to him he wasn't willing to bet being hit by a whole boulder when he didn't know what skills were applied to them.
Hah, you think I'm gonna be a punching bag?
As the troll kept channeling mana into the ground and creating huge meteor sized boulders, Nagisa drew hopeless.
Instantly, a chill spread starting with himself at the center.
'Fuu'
A breath left his lips and with a step, his figure vanished leaving a streak of blue light.
Yagar immediately stopped creating more boulders and instead started kicking them at Nagisa full force the sound like a minefield constantly going off.
The huge boulders appeared before Nagisa one after the other but he didn't avoid them.
No, eyes focused his moved his feet and swung his sword like an elegant dance.
Up, left, down, to the side. A jump and a twist.
After the trail of blue light passed by these boulders each was cut in two, ice covering both halves before shattering into particles of snow.
Yagar could barely even react when Nagisa closed the distance and leapt up to meet his height.
It could only guard with its remaining arm, however for Nagisa who was already used to its sturdiness this time he took not just the arm but he sliced a deep wound in its chest.
Pssh!
Blood splattered but instantly froze into ice. Even the ground was cut deep and frozen over.
Yagar wanted to react but was unable to.
The freeze effect sunk into its blood and directly began to freeze its body from inside out even faster than before.
But-
Boom!
Yagar gritted its teeth and poured out its mana keeping the chill back.
Thanks to the ice covered floor it nearly slipped and fell backwards but held his stance with the arm that had regrown creating cracks with its fingers.
Did it force a recovery?
Perception told him that Yagar was furiously driving mana along with the activation of several skills to dispel the chilling cold and recover.
Yagar forcefully corrected his stance before Nagisa could properly land and swung his axe down from the side.
So persistent!
But Nagisa still held up his sword and blocked the attack while tilting forward to prevent being sent flying.
Then, using the momentum he flipped forward over the axe and landed on his feet to the side.
Before Yagar could even realize what had just happed, Nagisa twisted his body and sliced through the tendons in its legs with a jump then kicked him to his knees.
The huge giant body crumpled helplessly having its arteries cut and kicked toppling like a lone domino against the wind.
Nagisa chuckled then stomped on its huge back before stomping on its head.
[Fool, don't you know you should always protect your vitals in a fight?]
Yagar gritted his teeth and opened his mouth about to say something but Nagisa wasn't willing to listen.
Stabbing the sword into its neck, Nagisa then jumped down using his weight to cut deep through its neck.
The moment he landed he finished the job completely cutting off its head.
[Gotta admit you were strong-]
Sheathing his sword, Nagisa turned away.
[Though I'm way stronger]
He stretched.
[That takes care of that]
What a workout.
Although it seemed like an easy win, Nagisa had messed up in so many ways.
These were points he needed to brush up on next time to avoid a fatal mishap.
Still, victory goes to me!
Going forward he might make mistakes but being victorious would never change.
[Still, what's going on?]
Normally when he defeated the boss a door to the next floor would show up, however there was none this time.
He was confused.
Even as he waited patiently there seemed to be some sort of error.
Is there a hidden door or something?
Just then-
[Gaaaa!!]
A loud shriek echoed behind him making his eyes open wide.
[No way?!]
Nagisa's instincts roared signals in his body and he hurriedly turned just barely meeting the axe blade with clasped hands as the increased power forced him deep into a crater.
Nagisa cursed.
[This shitty boss monster]
Veins popped all over his hands and neck as he clasped the axe blade trying to prevent it from lowering any further.
[Kill! human!]
The boss had some how returned, and he was even far stronger than before!
