Chapter 104 - Chapter(97)

Episode(97) Babies Confronting a Tiger

SOVEREIGN OF DEATH~(97)

[Seriously, dude!-]

What the hell was this!?

Forget the fact that it was another one of those disgusting insects.

Not even seconds ago this thing was just larvae and suddenly popped out of the womb taking human form in mere moments.

This wasn't even seeing the miracle of human life, it was insect life and the process was disgusting!

But even more than all that-

[What the hell is this level!?]

[Chimera Legion Mantis(Lv.190)]

[Status: Perfect(Just born)]

According to the worlds voice this thing that just popped out of an egg was already several tens of levels higher than himself.

Come, whoever it is that made this hellish garbage. Come tell me how this even makes sense!

I've already exaggerated but this thing could be considered a toddler, barely seconds out of the womb and yet this nonsense irrational situation just had to show up before me.

One could say it was indeed luck for my greed to have overwhelmed me since if Camilla had to face this situation she would be left without ashes to bury.

I then looked around to see where the enemies were coming from and goosebumps emerged all over me.

[Seriously?]

I was surrounded.

Be it the walls or the ceiling, eggs and larvae lined the entire area. And looking ahead of the darkness, what I originally considered a dead end was just a wall made of larvae.

Ugh…I feel like I'm gonna-

The urge to hurl was just barely contained.

Still-

[What a sh*tty situation]

I couldn't even come up with a solid reason why this one egg had awoken.

It wouldn't cause the remainder to suddenly spawn more of these guy's right?

I wanted to quickly come up with an eradication plan to prevent any more sudden quick aging insects, but before I could come up with a plan the mantis attacked.

It had scythes where its hands should have been and that scythe descended above me.

Moving almost the same time without panic, I drew my sword and blocked the attack as it produced sparks.

I was amazed. For the mantis's scythe to produce sparks and not directly split in half with the sharpness of my sword it was amazing.

Still, with a push I forced the mantis back but it pivoted and closed the distance again swinging its other blade hand at my head.

Its speed doesn't betray its level.

Befitting its high level the speed was extremely fast but Nagisa still reacted leaning back as the blade just barely passed overhead.

But the monsters reaction heightened by its leveled made it quickly react to my evasion and before I could even fully stand straight it twirled back stabbing its blade hand down at my face.

At this rate it was a battle of who could react fastest, but even with a lower level I was confident that my specs were higher.

Twisting my body I avoided the attack and swung a heel kick.

Bang!

The forced hoisted the Mantis into the air, but I frowned.

[Hard-]

Indeed, its outer shell was hard and it felt as if my attack barely did damage. Still, I drew hopeless and dashed forward closing the distance.

The monster planted its feet in the ground kicking up dust as it came to a halt and threw a slash the moment I got close.

But, instead of clashing with its claws I crouched to my knee avoiding the attack and spun slashing my sword behind its knee bringing it to a kneel.

Its green blood splattered as the sword waved in my hand and I stood up.

[You are higher level than me, I'll give you that]

Saying so I looked into the darkness.

By now, my plan to eradicate all the larvae before they could hatch had all gone down the drain.

Still, a smiled bloomed on my face and I wasn't worried.

[Can babies still learning to crawl expect to best a tiger?]

And let's not forget, his level was definitely at a lower numerical value however his attributes were possibly hundreds or thousands of times higher than even the monsters at a similar level to himself.

Tough shell or whatever it may be didn't matter.

[Do you really think you can kill me?]

With a slash I severed the head of the kneeling Mantis monster and beckoned at the remaining hundreds of monster.

[Come quickly, don't waste my time]

[Camilla: POV]

[Geez! That Nagisa!-]

What kind of man goes off on his own and leave a beauty to wander around by herself?

Didn't he know that now was the best time to close the distance and build romantic interest?

That guy must be a virgin! Definitely a virgin!

Though she cursed, she was no master herself and had never even had a man flirt with her.

But what did that matter?

She was just angry she was left all alone so suddenly.

But, recalling his words she couldn't help but smile sweetly.

[Hmph! For a Nagisa he surely has his ways with words]

Even though he's just a Nagisa.

Not sure where she was even going, she could only complain about Nagisa to soothe her anxious heart and soul.

Seriously, why was this place so huge and where in the world did it lead?

If that guy was here she probably would have found the way long ago.

[Even though he acts like a barbarian, he can be pretty reliable at times]

Reliable huh-

For some reason when thinking about a reliable man, her mind instantly shifted to the scene of when he pulled down his pants.

That reliable looking third leg was too much to erase from her mind.

It was more like something a monster should have, not a human.

[What am I thinking about!?]

When did she become such a lewd woman?

If others of the church knew the former saint had such thought, she couldn't imagine how they would look at her with contempt.

-I hear she constantly thinks about mens nether regions

-What? A saint having such a dirty mind!? Shouldn't the church purge her should she corrupt the people?!

-Send her to the brothels to pay for her crimes!!!

No!

Just the thought of it all made her face pale and she shivered.

It was all that guys fault for showing her such a traumatizing sight.

She shook her head and thought back to everything.

Dying, reviving and becoming a ghoul.

What was a ghoul? Undead monsters, although they possessed some level of intelligence they were only violent flesh eating creatures that she often fought as a Saintess.

Yet, as a ghoul she ate normal meals, she didn't have an overwhelming desire for flesh and aside from having pain mainly numbed she was no different from a normal human being.

Nagisa, not only bringing her soul back from the dead but even reconstructing a body with no flaws.

Most of all he didn't even face a penalty for such a world shattering ability.

[Even now it feels weird]

Everything about her felt human, but her status panel said otherwise and she herself knew she was different from a human.

But, she couldn't help but smile.

At the very least, she was more human than a monster and it was thanks to him.

[Ah, the path ends there...]

Somewhere along the way, she ended up in an even larger space.

The ceiling was high enough to fly unobstructed and the space was wide enough for millions of people to gather without worrying about being packed together.

Surveying the area, her eyes paused on an altar.

The stairs, different from the rocky brown colored dirt and stone around were crystal leading up to a pedestal.

On top of that pedestal laid something that seemed to be an egg.

But, Camilla was doubtful after all the egg didn't seem normal. Instead it was completely see through and crystal like glass.

As Camilla walked towards the strange egg, she climbed the stairs.

Strangely, although it seemed like slippery glass she made firm steps and didn't find walking up the several steps difficult.

[It really is crystal]

Was it a mana stone or something she wondered?

But, as she reached out a hand towards it, she paused and turned grabbing the hilt of her sword with a wary expression.

[I-Is there anyone there?....]

Only the echoing of her voice through the space came as a reply.

Yes, there was no one and just herself in this huge space.

[I guess there wouldn't be huh....]

She lowered her guard which she had unconsciously took as a result of Nagisa constantly surprising her with attacks over the past few days.

Thanks to this she could automatically bring out a perfect stance but she honestly had some grievances.

Looking at the entrance to the space she had entered through she sighed.

[Spending too much time with that guy must have made me paranoid]

Sheathing the sword, she turned her gaze back to the crystal like egg.

Perhaps it would have some clues about the boss.

She would hate for Nagisa to find it first since he would definitely kill the boss before she even had a chance to face it and improve her own skills.

Of course, she knew her own limits and that she might not even be half a match for this boss monster but this boss room concept made it so that running away was possible.

And as long as she bought time Nagisa would deal with it.

It was just a tad frustrating to leave it to him all the while.

She wanted to repay him and protect him just as he gave her a chance to live. The only way to do that was to improve her own abilities.
