Other than her grandfather's side, she really had no relatives on her mom's side, "All my mom's relatives died pretty early. My grandma and grandpa passed away when my mom was just a teenager. She had an older brother and a younger one. My uncle passed away before my brother was even born, and my mom's younger brother went missing. So really, there aren't any relatives on my mom's side."
Uncle's mom died even earlier than him. He had two kids, but they dropped out of school young and went off to work in other cities. Just like regular relatives, they showed up once a year for New Year's, but weren't exactly close.
Saying "went missing" about her uncle is really putting it nicely. He was the richest in the family, made a fortune in business while he was young, but he just couldn't stay satisfied—messing around outside, in the end his family broke apart, his company crashed and folded, and finally, he just disappeared without a trace.
