But when it comes to Mei Mengzhen openly admitting to a relationship, the people in the Entertainment Circle are really not supportive. Having a romance does affect your career—let's be real, this industry is literally for fueling young people's fantasies. If you're in love, what's left for them to fantasize about? Losing popularity is just the beginning. A lot of folks have seen their careers go down the drain because of romance rumors.
But Mei Mengzhen never really cared about playing by those rules. She'd take a role if she liked the script, or just skip it if she didn't. She didn't rely on this for her income—as long as she treated every job right, that was enough. So naturally, she wasn't bothered by any of the issues that came with exposing her relationship.
However, she did have a movie coming up, so she had to be mindful about that one. She immediately called Ren Xingzhi—'Hey, Director Ren, it's Zhenzhen.'
'I know, Zhenzhen. You're calling about the trending topic, right?'
