The dark tendrils penetrating the young woman's head retreated. Emily blinked a few times. The whites returned to her eyes, and crimson grooves returned to her pupils.
Completely ignoring the young woman as she slumped face-first to the floor, Emily jerked around to come face to face with him. A hint of surprise and worry passed over her face, but it was quickly replaced by genuine joy. "Erik!" she cried out.
A single leap later she crashed into his arms and wrapped her soft body around his solid torso, legs and all. With a contented hum, she rubbed her cheek against his bare chest and inhaled his scent with closed eyes. "Hmmm… I missed you so much…"
Despite his concerns over what he found here, right now Erik could only sigh and hug her back. "I missed you too, my pale shadow," he whispered with a smile, chin resting on the top of her head. He wanted answers about the situation here, but he was in no rush. His bond with Emily showed him her genuine feelings.
