Auretta
"Ugh, my head hurts a lot" I grunted as I held my head and slowly opened my eyes.
I looked up, was I in a hospital? Who could've had possibly brought me here? I got up and sat down, it didn't look like a hospital to me. There were... machines and test tubes all around the room. Had I been kidnapped?! I was about to jump out of the machine when, my skin started ripping apart from the top of my head to the right side of my face. I screamed from the sudden shock of pain that overwhelmed my entire body.
I dropped to the floor with crimson red blood dripping from the middle of my face. The skin of my hands and legs were also tearing apart. My eyes watered from the excruciating pain that I had to endure. Every part of me was being pulled and burned at the same time. I closed my eyes with hope that the pain would stop anytime soon.
Suddenly, the pain stopped and it felt like, nothing had happened. I raised my head and saw that my skin had changed, it's no longer fair and pale as usual, it was rather some light blue-greyish colour.
What?! What happened to me? In the reflection of the glass of the machine, I saw that my face had stitches from where my skin started ripping apart. It was quite a unique experience. I didn't hate it, in fact, I was entertained to the point I started smiling to myself.
During the time I was looking around and admiring myself, a tall navy-haired guy was in the room. He looked like he was a bit older than me, perhaps he worked there. He leaned againsts the door frame eating cake and slowly turned his head to look at me.
Is this guy the one who saved me?
I stood up and pointed at him, "Hey, you! Where am I and why did you put me in that odd looking machine over there?"
He looked at me like a child would, then swallowed the whole cake in his mouth, took a piece of paper, and wrote on it.
I looked at him, a bit confused. Is he mute or that lazy to talk until he has to write on a paper?
I thought to myself, "This innocent act again? I'm not falling for it twice." I rolled my eyes, annoyed at the fact that someone tried to trick me. I tried to feel his aura to ensure my safety.
Strangely enough, he didn't emit any aura. Not pleasant nor awful ones. He was just, there...? It startled me for a second, as I've had never met anyone who didn't emit auras. Anyway, it wasn't important THAT important of a matter, I just needed to get back as soon as possible.
He showed me the paper. It's written, "You're in my laboratory, I saved you from drowning and would like to be repayed."
Repayed? Guess he didn't save me for free afterall. It was understandable since the river he saved me from was no ordinary river, it was one of the most dangerous river in the country. Honestly, I'd do the same too.
"Fine, I'll repay you. Tell me what do you want from me?" I asked and looked at him in his eyes.
His eyes widened as he took out his phone and started typing, "Your body and your time."
I was taken aback from what he said. "WHAT?! THAT'S TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR A STRANGER ESPECIALLY A 16 YEAR OLD GIRL!" I shouted at him for requesting something so impudent.
His face was filled with shock and panic. He typed again in a rush, "I MEANT THAT I JUST WANTED TO SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO YOU WITHIN THE SPAND OF 2 WEEKS TIME AFTER I USED THE MACHINE"
Wow he's a fast typer, I guess he really meant it. I do wonder what that machine does until it turned me into this. Despite the fact that his request for repayment was still weird, I agreed to it.
"So you'll let me leave after 2 weeks?" I asked.
He nodded and typed again, "Yes, I'll also provide a room and meals for you."
Not bad of a deal huh? I don't usually eat a lot of meals so this'll be nice.
"Ok deal," His face lit up hearing me. "I just have to satisfy your knowledge and stay here for 2 weeks. Ah, right what's your name?"
"Anh." He wrote his name on his phone.
"Is it pronounced And? Or Un? Or An? Or-" Before I continued he sighed and held his phone right in front of me.
"Just call me Andrew." He typed.
"Right, Andrew." He extended an open palm at me with the means of asking my name.
"My name's Auretta." I answered politely.
"Awuleta" He showed me the text on his phone.
Irritated by his acts, I replied, "That's not how you spell it!"
"Oreta" He showed me again.
"It's Auretta, A-U-R-E-T-T-A!" I snapped at him for messing around.
"I'm calling you Ret, Auretta's too long." He had a small grin on his face as he replied to me with a text.
Ugh, this guy...
"Do as you please, call me Red, Rat, or Ret I don't care." I turned my head towards the clock on the wall. It was 8.25pm, I wanted to get some rest from the exhausting day. "What room do I sleep in?" I walked towards the door.
He blocked the door with his body, "Now that I see him upclose, he looks well-built for a scientist. I do wonder why there's noone else here though." I thought to myself.
I glanced at his hand, he gave me his phone number to contact him whenever I need something. Afterwards, I added his number and saw that he had sent me a layout of the lab. I thanked him and went straight in my designated room. Huge, comfortable bed and several closets really complimented the modern aesthetic of the room. The ceiling was very high too, if anyone were to see this, they wouldn't even think that it's a lab. I locked the door before laying right on the bed.
Such a long day... I closed my eyes and slowly drifted away to sleep, hugged by the clouds and the heavens.
