Eyes are a window glimpse to the soul a saying said for how many years she didn't know where it originated from but the statement didn't hold any true weight till now.
Why? Well because a girl, no correction huntress is glaring at her like she murdered for a living.
In a way it wasn't a wrong analogy but she has her reasons.
Well she left the room, she felt like she was being cornered and felt vulnerable.
shuddering at mere thought being cornered, she rubbed her sides gently bemoaning at the sudden surge of pain that, that, that thing did.
She knows how lucky she got by just walking out of that with just bruises, a simple fracture and some stress induced fractures but aside from the others she was essentially alright. But she doesn't have the worst of it. Jaune in a coma in bandages has his aura freaking out but alive. But her "partner."
"Oof" two voices reacted in unison on collision Blake stepping back to look at who she ran into. Weiss, she had no bandages on her no sign injury besides the count that she's not looking at Blake in the eyes.
A silence grew between the two.
"I'm glad that all of you made it out of... that" Weiss genuinely said with a sense of shame.
Sighing, Blake lets the frustration go. "I'm fine, how are the others?" she waved off the concern, instead of focusing on how the others are doing.
"Ren and Nora are alright, their health is progressing speedily. Yang and Pyrrah both hold more severe injuries but should be able to get back up after a month's worth of rest or so." Weiss exclaimed what she was told by nurses and doctors from their examinations.
"How's Ruby? And... Jaune." Weiss asked for the young girl she was looking for and for the other young man that she felt a sense of worry and respect for.
Blake looking out the window nodded in acknowledgement at being notified of the others' conditions.
" Ruby is fine, she's with Jaune, and he seems to be hanging on. He's in bad shape but still breathing." She simply explained to the schnee.
She let out a sigh of relief leaning on the window gazing out at nothing but the day this experience shaped something in all of them. greatly so.
A comfortable silence left between both huntresses in training.
But was washed away as Blake decided to ask a question that neither wanted to be asked but needed to be.
"So how is your...situation?" Blake asked.
"They don't know what's happening either" Weiss replied in a heavy tone looking down at her hand in many motions. Then she tries to use her semblance but nothing shows yet she could still feel her aura but yet it feels like a gap has suddenly shown itself without forewarning between what she had and herself.
A sense of inadequacy washes over her and unfamiliar weight follows. But clenches her hand tightly as if to squash that notion from moving further.
They both looked out at the window.
" I may step over the line and I apologize if I do for asking this, but I'm curious what happened in the forest with...that thing?" Weiss asked.
The faunus's eyes became razor-sharp instantly at the recollection, but taking slow calmed breaths in remembrance.
"Okay" she sighed heavily. Weiss turns to blake
"You already know after both you & Ruby got out of there, I turned back. I don't why I did, guilt, or regret either option feasible but i did." Blake exclaims.
-Flashback-
The run back. A desperate track back to the others, thoughts unceremoniously running wild by the second.
She made it to where they'd last stood, but found no one there.
Anxiety stabbed into her chest. The only thing left was the area itself, torn apart, blood flung in lines across the ground. The dirt floor held cracks, indents, slash-like scars. The trees around it were bent at unnatural angles, huge chunks missing, like an invisible massacre had taken place — and yet no bodies, no evidence it had actually happened. Only the land held on to the scars, the sole proof that a fight had occurred at all.
Something moved in the corner of her eye.
She brandished Gambol Shroud, both blade and pistol, aiming toward where the shadow had run. Nothing stood there.
Something was watching. She didn't know where, but she felt it — the hair on the back of her neck rising.
Bang!.
She spun and fired, certain of a surprise attack. Again, nothing.
Heart beating in her ears.
She shook her head. She must be losing it. Steadying her breathing, she followed the trail of shattered trees and torn foliage deeper into the forest.
That's when she found them — Nora, Yang, and Pyrrha, locked in battle against a swarm of smaller Death Stalkers.
Blake fired at one closing in from behind for an ambush.
"Thanks, Blakey!" Nora chirped, not missing a beat as she brought her hammer down on another scorpion, the dirt cracking beneath the impact. Pyrrha only nodded, eyes locked on the swarm. Yang didn't seem to notice the save at all, too focused on driving an aura-infused punch through one of the Grimm in front of her.
Then Yang's eyes lit up with an idea.
"Any of you got ice or lightning dust?" she called out, another Grimm crumpling under her fist.
"Lightning dust, right here!" Nora answered, squashing a scorpion underfoot with a satisfying crack of dirt and chitin.
"I may have some wind dust in my ammunition pouch," Pyrrha said, "but I'm not sure — can you cover me?" She questioned the girls.
"Yep yep" Nora agreed.
Blake hummed in agreement.
"Yeah, just do it quick" Yang called out, crushing one small deathstalker under her new boots that vomitboy bought her at the last second as a show of good faith which ain't happening any time soon.
"Nora smash, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHa" Nora screamed in incredulous maddening laughter.
"Squash goes bug flat as a rug~" she sang in a gleeful tone as the sounds of squishy sounds following lightning stunning other grimms to where they stand as she continues to sing on rinse and repeat.
"No I'm out" Pyrrha grimaced. And running low on ammo she switches to Miló & Akoúo̱
Yang then lets out an annoyed grunt. She was going to use ice and fire dust to create a mist as a cover and then use lightning dust to make a small thunder storm to stun or kill the grim cause of fire and ice make mist and add lightning and maybe it turns into a storm? Sue her, she doesn't know she barely passed science, but it's not possible now.
"If any one has an Idea to deal with these bastards? Cause I'm open to any ideas" Yang exclaimed starting to grow desperate.
"Ooh me, me, I have an idea!" Nora exclaimed over enthusiasm, waving her hand wanting to share with the class, as if they weren't in imminent danger already. What's the worst that could happen?
"Nora!" Blake called to the energetic pinkette. Just desperate for anything at this point.
"let's do a gong" the torrent of chaos said all to eagerly as she she stomped
"Ok but how?" asked Yang, shooting some fire dust rounds to try to push back the miniature deathstalkers.
"My Shield! We use my shield" Pyrrha quickly caught up to the pinkettes' thoughts....somehow.
"Bingo~" Nora Sang.
"But what will we use to hold the shield? and to push back these bastards!" Yang yelled at the damn disgusting bugs.
She looks around to see what she can use, on her last strand.
"Agh!" Pyrrha let out a pained yell.
"Damit" She swore at the stinging pain and stabbed the grim that stung her. Her Aura flickered.
She then covered her mouth in reflex. "Sorry" the spartan murmured.
But quickly on reflex Blake the ribbons of gamble shroud to entangle on tree branches. "Niko's!" She yells for her with hand reaching out.
But the Grimm chose to swarm at that moment and taking hold on Pyrrah's left leg and striking all at once screaming in pain she still threw her shield to Blake. Catching the shield, then using gamble shroud's ribbon she used the surrounding branches to help create a makeshift gong.
Yang with all the damage she took from the grim looked at Nora looked back at her as a silent conversation passed between the two and a carnivorous grin placed itself on Nora's face.
Nora skillfully spun her hammer.
Yang jumped.
"Fore!" Nora yelled like she was hitting a golf ball.
Pulling back her fist and then pouring all her accessible Aura on to her Right arm with all the excess damage she took, her arm began to feel a slight warmth that she never felt before.
No! She can't think about that now she needs to put more into it! And when close to the shield she then threw her fist with all she could.
But nothing was heard. Did-did she miss the target? No she couldn't have. She hit the target dead on and she felt it for a second.
Her line of thought stopped at the same moment her breath was caught in her neck. As she now focused at her surroundings
All other grim surrounding them all upside down twitching, seemingly dead or dazed. But
Gasp
She let out an involuntary gasp.
Why?
The simple cause of excruciating pain surging suddenly through her. She could only glance at her arm, now bending in a direction it shouldn't. All she could do was scream, but yet nothing could be heard. All she is assured in the silence is the rattling ripping through her throat.
Then the fire rose.
A wave- no an arc of fire rose like a wave curling up into the dark.the other girls next to her all stare up at the wave of flame for it looked oddly beautiful, for it looked like a crescent moon made of billowing dancing flames in defiance of something none could name. But from where It came, they could guess who caused it.
"Jaune" Weiss said with finality after she heard the side of Blake's tale.
"Bingo" was the only thing that Blake could say to answer Weiss's plight.
"So that's why there was a line of fire cutting through most of the forest!" Weiss exclaimed like she finally got the right test score she's been aiming for.
Blakes rose a Brow "you were there? You were told to go back"her voice held worry then held weight.
"NO!... not alone anyway the Headmaster got the carriers to all those that were wounded those that failed, and those that passed" at the that sentence she looked back at the door to where Jaune is being treated.
Blake followed her gaze and she couldn't help but think what kind of mystery was Jaune Arc.
