[Third Person Pov]
Pandemonium surrounded the crystallized dome down in the middle of the facility, its interior pulsing with a mixture of purple and silver light that bled through the cracks of the construct like a heartbeat. Peter was running in fast circles around the dome, creating another protective barrier made of motion and electricity. The speed he was moving at turned him into nothing more than a blue blur that circled the structure endlessly, each step releasing sparks that scorched the metal floor beneath his feet. Due to his speed his body was accumulating more energy than what he was releasing at the moment, causing bright blue arcs of energy to glow within his veins like lightning trapped beneath his skin.
Peter was like a bowling ball knocking over pins, crashing through Sentinels and sending massive mechanical bodies tumbling across the battlefield. Although those pins responded with lethal force. Beams of energy shot past him, missiles detonated against the ground, and mechanical limbs tried to clamp down on him from every direction as he weaved through the chaos.
He was stopped by Master Mold and piled up on by the rest of the Sentinels, their massive bodies crashing down over him in a metallic avalanche. They all crowded his body in an attempt to end his life once and for all, their combined weight pinning him into the ground while weapons began to charge.
"Spidey!" Nightwing called out with a hint of worry in his voice but couldn't help as his hands were a little preoccupied at the moment, deflecting beams of pulverizing energy that kept raining down around him.
"Arghhh!" Peter roared with power as all the energy he had saved up exploded outwards in a violent wave of discharge. The Sentinels surrounding him were blown back as arcs of electricity raced through the ground and shot wildly through the air like living serpents of lightning.
Peter's own mind moved at super speed. His hands shot out grabbing a hold onto the tendrils of energy with his bare hands and he started to manipulate them to his leisure, gripping the lightning itself as if it were solid matter.
Peter whipped them around like whips that cracked through the air, carving glowing trails through the battlefield before gathering the energy up in his hands and transforming it into a giant electrical greatsword that hummed with violent power.
"Say hello to my little friend!" Peter exclaimed with an exaggerated accent as he swung the blade directly at Master Mold.
It wasn't enough to kill him but it was more than enough to send the towering machine flying back away from them as the blade detonated against his armored body.
'Honestly what was I worried about' Harry shook his head with a smile. "Are you sure you should be wasting energy like that?" he asked once he saw Peter letting bits of electricity die around him at his feet while placing the greatsword casually over his shoulders.
"It's alright," Peter grinned as he lowered his hood. "After all, they're about done, look."
Harry followed Peter's upward tilt and looked over toward the dome. Within the dome the energy that Felicia and Aria were releasing had died down significantly before it finally stopped altogether.
There was a brief pause before another flash of purple light erupted from Aria. A beam of energy struck the dome from the inside and the point of impact began to visibly glow hotter and hotter until the structure shattered outward and the front exploded like glass fractures bursting apart.
Darwin stepped out with Felicia still resting over his shoulders, his breath visible in the cold air as Aria floated behind him. When they all stepped out the ice construct behind them crumbled to the ground in a small mound of shattered frost.
The Sentinels were still fighting, still releasing energy capable of mass destruction, still aiming to kill in order to put an end to the mutants and their associates.
That is until Darwin spoke.
"Stop." He commanded, the glow of his eyes intense enough to blind anything that came too close.
Felicia hissed and leapt through the air. She created platforms with her magic and jumped her way toward Peter's shoulders instead, landing beside him where she clearly felt safer.
The Sentinels froze one by one as if they had suddenly shut down, although they were visibly trying to resist the command given by Darwin. Their massive bodies trembled with the effort as their systems attempted to override the directive.
Their bodies shook with their failed attempts, their adaptive features failing to respond to the command they were trying to force.
"You…" Master Mold asked as he looked toward Darwin, remaining frozen on the spot he stood. "What have you done? This was not within my calculations, you had no chance of succeeding."
"I'm only taking back what you took from me," Darwin answered with the same intensity as when he first appeared. "My mutation doesn't belong to you. It was never yours to control and turn into a weapon to hunt down and hurt others. I'm the one in charge. I'm the one who's in control here."
"As for there being no chance of succeeding," Felicia started to speak, her body transforming back into her humanoid form. She stood behind Peter with her arms draped over his shoulders in a loose embrace. "With me around, the possibilities are virtually endless," she stated with a cocky grin.
Felicia then looked toward Peter with eyes and an expression that clearly screamed: Praise me! I did good, right?
Peter chuckled as he placed a hand over her cheeks. "Good work, this couldn't have been possible without you."
Felicia let out a beaming smile, her eyes flashing with pride as she leaned slightly more into him, clearly pleased with the acknowledgment.
"Even if you have won this round, this will not be the end," Master Mold said, his tone monotone despite his obvious defeat. "The hatred toward mutants existed long before the Trasks, and it will continue to do so even after we are gone. There is nothing you can do to change that. That is a constant variable in this equation. There will come others after us that will seek out your end, and where we failed they will succeed."
Scott stepped forward as he spoke. "That is where you're wrong. There is still something we can do, and it is something we have always done and will continue to do. We will keep fighting and keep working to create a world where we are accepted as more than just our mutations."
Peter also stepped forward, resting his arm casually over Scott's shoulders. "As for your equation, you were wrong about your victory and you're wrong about this as well. We're the prime example of that. I'm not a mutant and yet we were more than capable of fighting alongside each other despite our differences. We're proof that it is possible."
Master Mold didn't respond at first. It simply stared at Peter and Scott standing beside each other. Behind them the rest of the team stood upright, mutants and non-mutants alike, most of them instinctively staying close to Darwin.
"Deny it as much as you want, the fact remains," Master Mold finally stated coldly.
Darwin then stepped forward, his hand still extended and his eyes still glowing. "Here's another fact then."
Darwin slowly began to levitate off the ground, rising a few feet into the air as he stared down at Master Mold. There was a quiet certainty in his voice when he spoke again.
"You lose."
Through his connection to the cells that had been replicated within the Sentinels, Darwin issued a single command to every machine that stood in the chamber.
Perish
Their cores, where the stolen mutations had been stored and replicated, began to glow with unstable pulsations. One by one they started to detonate, violent bursts of energy ripping through their own frames as their systems collapsed from the inside out. Massive mechanical bodies crumbled apart and exploded, reduced to nothing more than rubble under the weight of their own failures.
Darwin's command and control over his cells was absolute.
Everyone watched the scene as if they were standing in the middle of an up close fireworks display. Explosions lit the facility one after another, flashes of light reflecting across the metal walls as the Sentinels were systematically erased. A powerful sense of victory spread through the group as they witnessed the fall of the machines with their own eyes.
They had done it.
They had won.
