"The tongue of the Immortal Hunting is different from that of humans, but far broader. It can speak human words as well as emit screeches. You should try to adapt."
Pei Ye furrowed his feathered brows, tilted his head, and attempted it. At the banquet table, sounds of "jiji," "zhazha," "gaga," and "jiu" echoed incessantly.
After about a dozen attempts, Pei Ye finally found the right pitch and chirped, "Is this correct?"
The Da You gave him a bland look: "Sounds like an eunuch."
"This bird voice is too thin," Pei Ye remarked, turning his head to Lu Wu, "What species am I?"
Lu Wu said: "Shaoyao."
The Da You added: "Bird."
Pei Ye was surprised: "So you can speak human language."
Earlier, he had only seen the two birds chirping together.
Lu Wu said: "Blue Birds have their own language. You can learn it later."
The Da You looked at him and chirped a "jiu," Pei Ye squinted his bird eyes. He didn't understand but felt it wasn't a good word.
