The lanterns in the building were dimly lit. Pei Ye looked around, picked up a few pieces of pastries from the table, and headed upstairs, pushing open Lu Yuque's door. Inside, there was no one, so he continued to the top floor's terrace, where in the shadows, he spotted a slender figure sitting with knees hugged.
This was a place where no one usually came, very quiet. The moon was hidden behind clouds, its light merely a thin layer, as if it would disperse with a wave.
Pei Ye walked over and handed the pastries to her. Lu Yuque lowered her head, neither speaking nor accepting.
Pei Ye withdrew his hand and sat cross-legged beside her.
