The Star Zone where the Shinto World is located is at the very edge of the universe, which is why it has become a battleground for Xian Dao Stronghold and Old Era remnants, ultimately struck into a desolate void, a ruin where the Immortal Path does not shine!
And the vast universe is boundless, with similar edge zones nearly infinite. In most places, the universe's will guards them, even for Old Era remnants at the Heavenly Immortal level who dare to step in, they face the fate of soul annihilation. Only in some weaker spots, where the protection is not as strong, are there need for Divine Immortals and Heavenly Immortals to station there. These areas are the so-called Heavenly Gateways.
The Cosmic Ruins where the Empyrean Fairy is repairing was once one of the many Heavenly Gateways. Tens of millions of years or even longer ago, there were also Xian Dao Strongholds stationed here, but they likely perished in battle already.
