Ulric's orders were simple: strike the enemy's supply lines.
When he received them, he didn't even ask for a squad. He was always used to moving and fighting alone. It was alone that he shone the best.
And so he argued that he alone would be enough for the mission assigned to him. One Magus — especially someone capable like him — could move fast and unnoticed, and definitely do more damage than a group.
But the Dark King didn't agree.
For the mission assigned to Ulric was a dangerous one. The enemy Mana Vortex Magi numbered a dozen, as for the rest of the magi and mortals numbered close to a hundred.
No matter how powerful and capable a Magus Ulric was, the Dark King would not send him for such a mission alone.
These weren't the Empire's lands where Ulric was used to wandering by himself. They were deep within enemy territory.
And so a dozen Mana Vortex Magi were assigned to him.
