Lilian returned to her apartment, her heart still pounding at the growing unease that she felt. Since the day she met Amanda, albeit briefly with no words exchanged, this nasty feeling had clung to her like a cloth that wouldn't come off no matter how hard she tried, and it scared her to no end.
She walked to the window and pulled the curtains to the side, searching the ground below as if she were expecting to pop up out of thin air and come at her.
"Is something wrong, Miss Lee?"
The voice started her to the point that she nearly screamed. Turning, she found Alice looking at her with eyes full of worry for her on the wall nearby, Azrail leaned lazily on the wall, his hand folded across his chest and gaze on her.
Taking a deep breath, she replied, "No. Everything is fine. I'm sorry if I made you worry."
